Dior Pops Up At South Coast Plaza

Celebrating the launch of Jonathan Anderson’s collections for Dior, South Coast Plaza’s iconic Jewel Court has been transformed into an emblematic visual pop-up. This space is reimagined as a joyful homage to the Dior archives; immersive scenography playfully reinterprets the boxes from the very first boutique, known as Colifichets. The gray packaging pays tribute to the signature color of 30 Montaigne and fills the exterior and interior of the central court in eye-catching towers, some with men’s and qomen’s accessories displayed inside. Exterior boxes that envelop the central court are illuminated and playfully filled with iconic Dior accessories from the new collections. In the center of the space, three mannequins dressed as bellboys carry towers, creating an immersive and eye-catching scene. Throughout the pop-up, the women’s and men’s universes come together, heritage and future merge, and the new Dior look comes to life. Iconic new styles designed by Jonathan Anderson, including the reinvented Lady Dior, the Dior Book Tote embroidered with the covers of literary classics, the Dior Bow bags, the revisited Dior Normandie bags, Dior Roadie shoes, Dior Archie loafers and, of course, a selection of key ready-to-wear and fine jewelry pieces, are on display within the space.

Special animations bring a personal touch to the collection for clients. These experiences embody Jonathan Anderson’s new creative vision. One game, Try Your Luck, plays off Monsieur Dior’s superstitious outlook. Each guest will open a special surprise upon arrival to test their fortune for a chance to win a prize. Three special personalization animations will also be available. One offering, a special perfumed ceramic with a customizable ribbon, is inspired by the new packaging and Gris Gris universe. Inspired by elements from the collection, a mini notebook and a bookmark offer clients the opportunity to create a unique memoir.

In a town where winter visitors arrive by private jet and reservations are as coveted as lift tickets, the restaurant scene in Aspen has become as competitive—and glamorous—as the slopes. Among the dining rooms shaping the town’s modern culinary identity are Duemani, Acquolina and Angelo’s—three Italian-inspired restaurants that now operate under the umbrella of the rising hospitality venture Aspen Hospitality Group. At the center of this growing restaurant portfolio is entrepreneur and hospitality veteran Carlos Solorzano-Smith, the group’s founder and managing partner. His journey—from restaurant floor staff to one of the most visible figures in Aspen dining—mirrors the ethos of the establishments he now oversees: polished but approachable, ambitious yet grounded in tradition. Solorzano-Smith arrived in Aspen more than a decade ago with little more than determination and a desire to learn the business from the ground up. He worked his way through some of the town’s most prestigious dining rooms, including the celebrated Japanese restaurant Matsuhisa Aspen and The Little Nell.

Aspen Hospitality Group made its first major move in 2021, purchasing both Duemani and Acquolina from previous owners Luigi Giordani and Gretchen Leary. Rather than reinvent the restaurants, Solorzano-Smith and his partners including Neapolitan chef Vincenzo Salvatore, who joined in 2024 as Aspen Hospitality Group’s culinary director (formerly of Aspen’s Casa Tua and Casa D’Angelo), and Darko Petrov as wine director, took a subtler approach. Each of the group’s restaurants brings a slightly different interpretation of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine to the Aspen dining scene.

At Duemani, a sleek dining room on Monarch Street, the menu leans toward coastal Mediterranean flavors—whole fish, raw bar selections, grilled seafood and prime meats inspired by the cuisines of Italy, Greece, Spain and France. The restaurant’s bright, airy redesign emphasizes the same sun-washed coastal sensibility found on the plate. Acquolina, by contrast, remains a classic Italian trattoria. Long a favorite among Aspen locals, it specializes in house-made pastas, pizzas and traditional regional dishes. The newest addition to the portfolio is Angelo’s, which opened in 2024 after Aspen Hospitality Group acquired the former Casa D’Angelo space on Mill Street. While the name changed, many of the restaurant’s Northern Italian dishes and elements of the original concept remain, creating a bridge between past and present. Together, the three restaurants sit within a two-block radius in downtown Aspen. With Duemani, Acquolina and Angelo’s, Aspen Hospitality Group has quietly built one of the town’s most influential restaurant clusters—three dining rooms that blend Italian tradition with the cosmopolitan energy of a global resort. And if Solorzano-Smith has his way, the group’s growth is just beginning.

Since opening in late 2025, Stars is an intimate wine bar earning acclaim as a destination for serious wine enthusiasts and casual sippers alike. The 450-square-foot space in New York City’s East Village, designed by Studio Valle de Valle, is wrapped in brushed cedar panels, cast under the warm glow of a skylight-like ceiling light fixture with matte marbled floors. Anchoring the jewel box space is a hand finished, horseshoe-shaped zinc bar outfitted with custom mahogany stools. Stars is brought to you from the team behind tClaud and Penny. Since Claud’s debut in 2022, proprietor Chase Sinzer has built an ambitious cellar that has become a cornerstone of the experience at both the downtown bistro and Penny, its sister seafood counter upstairs. With the opening of Stars, Sinzer, Joshua Pinsky and team introduce a dedicated nook for guests to convene over wine and access additional rare finds and cellar gems.

This winter season, Parisian institution Caviar Kaspia makes its Aspen debut with The Snow Lodge. Following a soft opening during Snow Polo, hosting special guests including Colman Domingo, Mikey Madison, Nacho Figueras, Brooks Nader, and more, the brand debuted a formal dining experience, paired with The Jade Room’s lounge. Since 1927, Caviar Kaspia has embodied Parisian elegance and culinary indulgence from its home at 17 Place de la Madeleine. The wood-paneled walls, turquoise-blue linens and intimate dining room have hosted everyone from from Hemingway and Picasso to Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Lenny Kravitz, Naomi Campbell and many more. “Aspen has always shared Kaspia’s spirit—elegant, festive and international,” says Ramón MacCrohon, CEO of Groupe Kaspia. “Together with Jayma Cardoso and her incredible team, we’re creating an immersive experience that unites Kaspia’s Parisian soul with the energy and creativity of The Snow Lodge.”

The restaurant and lounge were designed by architect Antonio Di Oronzo of Bluarch, merging the best of The Jade Room with the spirit of Caviar Kaspia. “Ever since we opened The Snow Lodge in Aspen five years ago, it has been my dream to collaborate with Caviar Kaspia, and finally the stars have aligned,” says Jayma Cardoso, The Snow Lodge’s founder. “They’re perfect for Aspen—the product, the lifestyle, the brand ethos. It’s so Aspen.” This season, Thorsun founder George Sotelo shepherded this collaboration, and is a partner through his new agency, Studio Sotelo. The Snow Lodge’s culinary team traveled to Paris to train under MacCrohon, to bring the magic of Paris to The Rockies. New premium spaces have opened at Barclays Center as part of the arena’s five-year, $100 million enhancement plan. Loge Boxes and sections of the 40/40 Club have been transformed into Gallagher Terrace, a 5,300-square-foot space exclusive to 110 guests. The intimate club is the only area in Barclays Center to offer an in-seat dining experience with visibility to the game (and waiter service), along with a full-service bar with premium wines and a team of sommeliers. “Barclays Center sits at the heart of one of the most diverse and dynamic markets in the world, and our success depends on delivering an experience that truly reflects and celebrates our community,” said Shanon Ferguson, Chief Hospitality Officer at BSE. “Hospitality has always been a core pillar of our business, and these investments reinforce our commitment to putting guests first. The west end of Barclays Center’s upper concourse has been reimagined as Modelo Bridge, a two level, 6,800-square-foot multi-use space designed as both a communal destination open to all guests and an activation zone for halftime performances, fan contests and other entertainment. Modelo Bridge features an oversized raised platform shaped like a bridge, inspired by the iconic structures connecting Brooklyn to the rest of New York, complete with artwork from local New York muralists commissioned in partnership with the Mexican beer brand. Guests can enjoy unobstructed views from two standing-room decks, purchase drinks from the arena’s largest bar and take in views of Downtown Brooklyn through panoramic windows. This new salon space in a prime Palm Beach location is just what colorist power couple Reyad and Kylie Williard Fritas wanted for their second salon outside New York City (the first is at the St. Regis Aspen). The duo behind the Suite Reyad salon in midtown Manhattan, known for their meticulously applied balayage highlights, have colored the hair of Nina Garcia, Apple Martin and Madison Headrick. “Everyone wants comfort, but most importantly clients like intimacy,” explains Fritas. “Especially when you spend a few hours having your hair done.” Fritas, who worked for many big salons in the past, wanted to move away from the stark, anonymous salons of yore with many chairs and too many people buzzing around. “We love servicing a new market while also getting to see a lot of our New York City clients on vacation,” says Williard Fritas, who specializes in balayage. The salon will also sell the brand’s eponymous product line. The duo have created five products: The Shampoo and The Conditioner, each available for fine and normal hair and thick and coarse hair, and The Cure, a pack of six weekly booster serums for dry or damaged hair.

Simon Kim’s Gracious Hospitality Management (Coqodaq and Cote) has opened an outpost of its Michelin-starred Cote Korean Steakhouse at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. Drawing inspiration from its acclaimed and Michelin-starred counterparts in New York (2017), Miami (2021) and Singapore (2024), while delivering a Vegas-only level of spectacle, the 17,000-square-foot space was designed by David Rockwell. Downstairs lies a theater-inspired dining room, central bar and live DJ booth while upstairs, skybox-style private dining rooms and a hidden bar oozes sex appeal.

Rooted in the Strip’s signature opulence and energy, the restaurant stays true to its unique blend of Korean BBQ conviviality and American steakhouse refinement. Guests can expect the highest quality cuts of beef, ranging from A5 wagyu from Kobe, Sendai and Miyazaki to 45-, 90- and 120-day aged steaks. In a city defined by ambition, Michael Hershman, CEO of the Soloviev Group, is putting forward one of the most visionary developments New York has seen in decades: Freedom Plaza—a proposed $11.1 billion integrated resort on Manhattan’s East Side that reimagines what a casino project could be.

Freedom Plaza is intentionally understated. “We’re not trying to bring a circus to Manhattan,” Hershman says. Partnering with Mohegan Sun, a family-run operation with deep commitments to social responsibility, the vision is rooted in community-first design: a below-ground casino, expansive public green space and more than 1,000 residential units (including over 500 affordable homes).

“This project isn’t about outsiders cashing in,” Hershman adds. “We live here. Our grandchildren live here. We know what the community needs.”

Freedom Plaza also proposes a first-of-its-kind community ownership model, offering up to 12 percent equity to NYC residents—a nod to Hershman’s inspiration from the Green Bay Packers’ fan ownership model.

As one of three bids for New York’s coveted downstate casino licenses, Freedom Plaza faces stiff competition. But Hershman is confident: “No one else is offering what we are—parkland, housing, a museum, real economic opportunity.”

Manolo Blahnik Opens In Miami

Manolo Blahnik has expanded to the Design District. Imagined by design firm Nick Leith-Smith Architecture + Design, the boutique features a striking geometric façade with a circular motif that continues through to the interior’s bespoke rugs and wallpaper. Individually rotating wall slats create floating shelves to display footwear and small bags, allowing the configuration to be customized to each new collection. Leith-Smith was inspired by one of the designer’s favorite artists, Josef Hoffmann, and his geometric shapes, ornamental detailing and bold monochromatic designs. “The energy of Miami is fantastic; the people and the place are so welcoming,” says Manolo Blahnik. “I wanted to open my store in the Design District because the area is full of beauty. The sculpture-filled plazas and striking architecture make it such a unique and dynamic place. There is so much focus on design and craftsmanship in the area; it is the perfect place to open a boutique.” The boutique houses 13 exclusive shoe styles in six different silhouettes, including the Maysale kitten-heeled mule and the Chaos, which is seen in an elegant bi-material version featuring navy blue nappa leather and a coordinating gingham toe strap.

Set between the resort’s existing limestone columns, the newly designed façade of the new Chanel boutique at the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas features white marble sculpted to evoke the elegance of pleated fabric. Accented with large display windows and accessory vitrines, the textured white stone transitions seamlessly into a curved, black fluted stone showcase dedicated to Chanel Fine Jewelry.

The expansive layout of the new boutique designed by architect and the brand’s frequent collaborator, Peter Marino, encompasses a total of seven individual salons. Custom hand-woven carpets and richly textured upholstery fabrics are showcased throughout the space, which boasts a fragrance and beauty salon, watches and fine jewelry salon, shoe salon, handbag, small leather accessories salon and two connecting ready-to-wear salons. In the shoe salon is a pair of 24-carat-gold Liane chandeliers decorated with hand-cut rock crystals by goldsmith Goossens. In the back of the boutique, the ready-to-wear salons are decorated with unique and custom furniture including an Ingrid Donat coffee table, René Cresson Louis XV Style armchairs, André Dubreuil coffee table and Thierry Leproust side table. In keeping with Gabrielle Chanel’s passion for the arts, Marino handpicked a dynamic mix of artworks by Roberto Donatelli, Robert Mapplethorpe, Chris Succo and Gianfranco Zappettini.

The label’s Métiers d’art collection, inspired by the treasured Coromandel screens inside Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment, is available featuring straight-cut fantasy tweed jackets, silk satin pleated dresses and skirts and separates featuring embroidered motifs. Clients will also be able to discover the fall/winter 2025/26 pre-collection, which introduces a fresh, youthful take on everyday dressing. Famed Parisian retailer Printemps has opened its first U.S. outpost in the landmark art deco building at One Wall Street. Culinary director Gregory Gourdet is overseeing its five food and beverage outlets, ranging from an all-day café to a champagne bar and a fine-dining restaurant. The principal restaurant is Maison Passerelle, an 85-seat restaurant highlighting the ways traditional French cuisine intertwines with the flavors of regions such as West Africa, the West Indies and Vietnam. Café Jalu is a 25-seat all-day restaurant on the first floor, while on the second floor are Salon Vert, a raw bar with 32 seats; the Champagne Bar; and Red Room Bar, a 25-seat cocktail lounge serving bites like shrimp cocktail with creole cocktail sauce. Printemps CEO Jean-Marc Bellaiche enlisted Laura Gonzalez, a Paris-based designer, to create the 55,000-square-foot space’s lavish interiors.

Le Café Louis Vuitton is Louis Vuitton’s new culinary destination at its 57th Street flagship in Midtown Manhattan. Created in partnership with STARR Restaurants, at the new restaurant, French flavors are revisited in ways that feel distinctly New York while paying homage to the history of the Maison. The kitchen is led by executive chef Christophe Bellanca, who earned a Michelin star for his restaurant Essential by Christophe, and executive pastry chef Mary George. John Singer Sargent’s French Connection

Opening at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on April 27, 2025, Sargent and Paris will explore the early career of John Singer Sargent from his arrival in Paris in 1874 as a talented 18-year-old art student through the mid-1880s, when his infamous portrait “Madame X” was a scandalous success at the Paris Salon. Featuring a substantial collection of paintings, watercolors and drawings, the exhibition is the largest international exhibition of Sargent’s work since 1998 and the first ever monographic exhibition of Sargent’s art in France. “This magnificent exhibition will shed new light on a transformative period in the life and career of one of America’s most important painters,” says Max Hollein, The Met’s Marina Kellen French Director and CEO. “By situating Sargent’s work within the context of the city that formed and inspired him, Sargent and Paris will illuminate this influential artist’s meteoric rise, providing new insights into his unique talent and skill in capturing the vibrant society he inhabited.”

In Paris, Sargent was immersed in a cosmopolitan circle of artists, writers, and patrons, as he navigated a successful path through the French exhibition system, achieving acclaim, recognition and awards. Sargent soon excelled at creating flattering, if provocative, portraits that gratified his patrons and their desire for social status. Sargent and Paris will examine the enduring fascination with society and celebrity that inspired the artist to create the now iconic “Madame X.” The exhibition will look in depth at the portrait, its creation, and the ensuing scandal, and for the first time ever, Sargent and Paris will reunite Madame X with its numerous preparatory drawings and paintings. The exhibition will present a nuanced understanding of the painting at the heart of a scandal that is as infamous now as it was in 1884 along with an appreciation for the originality and brilliance of Sargent’s art, underpinning the more sensational aspects of artistic society in 1880s Paris.

“Sargent’s career was indelibly shaped by the time he spent in Paris. Over the course of one remarkable decade, he created the boldest and most daring paintings of his oeuvre,” says Stephanie L. Chanel’s in-house perfumer Olivier Polge has created a scent filled with bright, sparkling raspberry accord, with facets of crisp fruit, rose and violet, as well as a rich and luminous floral heart of rose geranium. It is accompanied by a sophisticated touch of powdery iris and a mysterious cedar-white musk accord. An olfactory whirlwind leaves a floral-fruity fragrance trail that is both elegant and captivating. Upon entering the space, guests will take part in a maze activity that asks them which of the four words displayed resonates with them most. Each word connects to the essence of the French Maison. Next, they’ll encounter the teller, which will reveal a hidden message corresponding to their chosen word. Guests will get to try the new eau de parfum throughout the space, and discover the other Chance scents and body care products. A listening station will allow guests to hear “A Little More,” the song created by singer, composer and performer Angèle—the face of the fragrance—for the fragrance campaign. In addition, the space will provide several opportunities for photo moments, including a fun photo booth and a larger-than-life bottle. Guests will also be able to purchase their favorite Chanel Chance scents at the event.

The exterior façades, defined by vertical lines and enhanced with double-height windows, culminate in a luminous glass penthouse. Architectural transparency elevates the collections like an imperceptible frame, inviting guests to step inside and explore the world of Dolce & Gabbana. Inside, the space unfolds over five levels, connected by an impressive circular staircase in black granite, crowned by a skylight that illuminates the entire structure, creating a fascinating interplay of light and shadow. The color palette plays with contrasts: polished Absolute Black granite interacts with white acid-etched sapphire glass, like a timeless photograph. Accents include eucalyptus wood display cases, steel furnishings and details in bouclé and black velvet. The Frick Collection Reopens In New York City

For the past five years, the Gilded Age mansion that houses the Frick Collection in New York has been closed to the public for an enhancement of its historic Fifth Avenue home. On April 17, the Frick reopens its doors, unveiling its $220 million renovation by Selldorf Architects in collaboration with executive architect Beyer Blinder Belle marking the most comprehensive upgrade to the institution since its opening in 1935. The project has restored the Frick’s historic first-floor galleries and created a new suite of galleries on the second floor of the original Frick family home, welcoming the public to experience these spaces for the first time. Through the repurposing of existing space and a modest addition, the renovation and enhancement significantly expands exhibition and programmatic spaces, including new special exhibition galleries on the museum’s first floor, the Frick’s first dedicated education rooms, and a new 218-seat auditorium. The project also included the restoration of the 70th Street Garden, now visible from multiple new vantage points throughout the building. “The reopening of the Frick marks an exciting moment in the trajectory of this storied cultural institution,” says Axel Rüger, the Frick’s Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Director. “With the return of the Frick’s masterworks to their revitalized home, we welcome visitors to rediscover the beauty, intimacy and scholarship that have defined the Frick for nearly a century and that we hope will inspire generations of visitors to come.”

The reopening of the Frick invites visitors to experience the museum’s collection anew, with its iconic masterworks reinstalled in restored galleries on the first floor and smaller-scale paintings, sculptures, and decorative objects on view throughout its newly opened second floor. In addition, the Frick’s inaugural season features a slate of special installations and public programs, including a special commission of porcelain plants and flowers by sculptor Vladimir Kanevsky, a presentation that pays homage to the floral arrangements made for the Frick’s original opening in 1935. “Visitors will now be able to experience even more of our collection and programs, thanks to the many architects, preservation experts, curators, artisans and innumerable museum and library staff who have collaborated to restore the original mansion while also creating new galleries, program spaces and public amenities,” says Ian Wardropper, the Frick’s former director.

Members can enjoy a full-service private bar, theater-style reserved seating, premium wine offerings and a dessert station serving fresh gelato and sweets. JetBlue at The Key is a vibrant club featuring communal tables repurposed from previous Brooklyn Nets City Edition courts, a full-service private bar serving beer on tap (the only space in the arena where tap beer will be served), interactive games and a 44 foot wide media wall. Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix returned for its second year, bringing a thrilling weekend of high-speed racing and unforgettable entertainment to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. 306,000 fans flooded the destination, immersing themselves in a combination of Formula 1 excitement and world-class hospitality, food and entertainment. The 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix saw George Russell of Mercedes-AMG Petronas emerge P1, while Max Verstappen claimed the 2024 World Drivers’ Championship while celebrities such as Sylvester Stallone, John Legend, Bradley Cooper, Seth Rogan, Adele, Kevin Hart, Brad Pitt, Paul Mescal and Jared Leto and more packed the grid. Performances from Alesso, Boyz II Men, Ludacris, OneRepublic and Steve Aoki on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit and culinary experiences from chef Gordon Ramsay at the luxury trackside dining venue Ramsay’s Garage brought a new level of luxury to the weekend. Fans experienced the race in new ways, including the addition of 10,000 more ticket options, along with events like the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix Fan Experience and immersive attractions in various fan zones As the lights dimmed on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, spectators were thrilled by 50 laps of intense competition across the 3.8-mile track. Drivers reached speeds over 220 mph, passing iconic landmarks such as resorts, casinos and other attractions.

I loved the Paddock Club guest experience with the best seats in the house, pit stops, rooftop access with birds-eye views of Turns 1 through 4 set alongside the Las Vegas Skyline and Turn 17 and the pit lane entry. We hopped on a flatbed truck and enjoyed a lap of the Las Vegas Strip Circuit and an exclusive garage tour from the Williams racing team. The Trackside Lunch with Gordon Ramsay at Caesars Palace featured a four-course menu by chef Ramsay, the T-Mobile Zone at Sphere offered A-list performances on the T-Mobile Stage, T-Mobile’s Club Magenta lounge boasted a prime view of track action and the T-Mobile stage (and of Alesso’s awesome performance).

Swedish candy brand BonBon has opened a new retail warehouse in Red Hook Brooklyn that’s open to the public on weekends only. Since 2017, the candy purveyor has become a social media sensation appearing in many of the 120 million TikTok videos celebrating the Swedish candy craze. The new store, now open in time for holiday shopping, is located inside its bustling warehouse and headquarters where orders are processed during the week and a beautiful retail store is open to the public on weekends. BonBon’s candy is imported from Sweden and the Red Hook store has hundreds of varieties of specialty Scandinavian pick-and-mix gummies, chocolates, licorice, packaged goods and more. On Sundays during store hours, BonBon also offers Swedish-style hot dogs until supplies run out. “Since opening the doors of our first BonBon candy store on the Lower East Side in 2018, it has been a cherished responsibility to offer an exceptional selection of authentic imported pick-and-mix confections and we’re proud to have a fourth location in the New York metro area,” says BonBon’s three founders Selim Adira, Robert Persson and Leonard Schaltz. Chef Daniel Boulud has opened his first steakhouse, La Tête d’Or by Daniel, at 318 Park Avenue South in Flatiron at the new office tower One Madison Avenue. Designed by David Rockwell and Rockwell Group, the space is grand yet inviting, with plush velvet banquettes and softly padded walls offsetting the soaring ceilings. Deep blue tones and dark wood add to the feeling of warmth in the 120-seat main dining room, bar, lounge and private dining rooms. Chef Boulud (Daniel, Café Boulud, Le Pavillon) is exploring classic New York steakhouse cuisine and enhancing it with a touch of French flair at the restaurant. “My cuisine is always rooted in tradition, with the use of the finest seasonal ingredients, and a steakhouse is the ideal showcase for these elements,” says Boulud. “It is quite a simple, universal pleasure, an excellent steak and a great sauce, but it needs to be executed with precision, and it needs to have soul. It is a joy to work at the wood-fire grill, with the highest quality meats and produce my own version of the steakhouse classics.” The menu features beef steaks, seafood plateaus, veal and lamb chops and a whole grilled lobster. Tuna tartare and crab cakes are served alongside tableside preparations of Caesar salad and a prime rib trolley where Scharbauer Ranch American Wagyu Ribeye is sliced to order. La Tête d’Or has opened in partnership with frequent partner SL Green, the developer of One Madison and One Vanderbilt with whom chef Boulud and his Dinex Group have had great success. “We are all great believers in the power of an exceptional restaurant, in the most spectacular locations, in this wonderful city,” says Dinex Group CEO Sebastien Silvestri. “New Yorkers have always loved a world-class steakhouse, and we are certainly aiming to bring them one to take note of.”

In December, the property will launch a residency of chef Eyal Shani’s famed HaSalon restaurant alongside an inventive new cocktail bar, Hidalgo, helmed by mixologist Dushan Zarić of Employees Only. Together, they bring a new vision of food and beverage offerings to the tony ski town.

HaSalon Aspen is a testament to Shani’s ability to elevate simple ingredients into unforgettable dishes while honoring the rich flavors of the Mediterranean. With its festive irreverence and devil-may-care vibe, the restaurant has lured the party crowd from Tel Aviv to Miami Beach, and will touch down at W Aspen from December through April. The Hudson Club from Hudson Street Hospitality founder Eytan Sugarman and partners Richie Romero, Shaun Rose and Matt Shendell has opened in Midtown West. Chef John DeLucie (Ambra, Waverly Inn, Lion) is overseeing the restaurant and cocktail bar which features a classic American menu with many seafood offerings. Prime steaks, fresh catches, an extensive raw bar offering, house made pastas and a variety of crispy rices. “At Hudson Club, we believe a little indulgence is a good thing,” says DeLucie. “From our buttery lobster pasta to the perfectly seared prime steaks, each dish is crafted to deliver an unforgettable experience. We pull inspiration from Old New York paired with a shared love of steak and seafood.” The space was designed and developed by Legeard Studio and Opus Interior and showcases beautiful leather booths accented with deep wooden hues and a rich, jewel-tone color palette. “Deep green velvet upholstery adds a lush, inviting warmth, while maroon leather injects a bold sophistication into the space,” says principal designer Julien Legeard. “These rich fabrics are complemented by dark wood finishes, glossy tiles and soft, ambient lighting, creating an ambiance that is both vibrant and intimate.”

On Thursday, September 19, Audi hosted an intimate dinner at Piaule in Catskill, New York, to celebrate Alex Tieghi-Walker, founder of downtown NYC art gallery Tiwa Select, and his latest gallery exhibition. On view at the Tribeca gallery though October 19 are new works by California-based wood sculptor Vince Skelly titled Play Sculptures. By sourcing and repurposing locally found wood, Skelly’s work highlights a broader narrative of design that enriches the human experience while honoring environmental stewardship. Alex Mill Opens In East Hampton

Alex Mill, the cult-favorite men’s and women’s fashion brand, founded by Alex Drexler in 2012, has opened a pop-up in East Hampton, which will be open through September. The son of retail legend Mickey Drexler, Alex and his partner, creative director Somsack Sikhounmuong (J. Crew) initially found success with men’s shirting before the brand expanded to include complete men’s and women’s offerings. “We all multi-task and we’re all in the office together,” says Mickey Drexler, the brand’s chairman. “I don’t need the old loudspeaker I had at J. Crew to talk to people. There’s less people to call on and here, I am touching everything. It gives everyone a bigger sense of responsibility,” he says of working on the brand’s small team. So how is it working on a brand with your son when you’re an icon in the fashion and retail industry? “There’s an adjustment period working with family,” he explains. “We work at it hard. You’re a father but you’re also a business partner. You need to establish a successful, viable business for the team to hone their skills, values and worth. It’s takes extra special work.”

The Hamptons is the brand’s first location outside New York City (SoHo and the Upper East Side). “We looked at several places around America and East Hampton won by far,” says Alex Drexler. “It’s a great demographic who loves fashion.” The store features white-washed walls and raw muslin tenting, natural floor coverings and raw wood fixtures that will make the space feel like an extension of the beach. Men’s and women’s clothing and accessories are on offer as are one-of-a-kind vintage pieces.

We spoke with Alex Drexler about the brand, the new store and what’s to come.

Twelve years later, what has been the secret to your success?

Since the beginning we’ve always stayed focus and consistent in what we believe in. For example, one of our mottos is “Wake up. Get dressed. Don’t overthink it.” We want to make it effortless for our customer and we’ve tried to stay true to this motto since the beginning. However, it’s important not to stay static so we’re constantly working to evolve as we grow.

How has the brand evolved?

Alex Mill started in 2012 as a men’s shirt brand. We had a small store on Elizabeth Street and did some wholesale. Since then, we’ve evolved a tremendous amount. We now have a full men’s and women’s collection and accessories. We also recently launched denim.

Is brick and mortar retail important to the brand?

Brick-and-mortar is a critical place for us to interact with our customers. The customer can look at and touch the product firsthand and speak with our team in the store. What’s great is we can receive immediate feedback on the collection and new offerings. We always love to hear what the customer thinks and wants so it’s great in that sense. We started the company with one small store on Elizabeth Street. Today, we have two stores in Manhattan (SoHo and the Upper East Side) and one in East Hampton. We’re excited to continue to open stores and grow.

You hosted a pop-up at SoulCycle‘s Barn earlier this summer. What’s special about this new location?

The Soul Cycle pop-up was a huge success and it validated to us the demand we had in the Hamptons for our product. We found a great location in East Hampton, and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity when we learned the space was available.

How do the three of you divide the responsibilities of running this company?

Alex Mill is small company, and we all work in one office together. We all get to multitask and wear many different hats, which is great.

What categories can we expect next?

We launched denim in the Spring with a focused assortment and it was a big success. We are continuing to build out our denim business, as well as our accessories. We’re excited for what’s to come.

Ketchy Beach is a new concept from restaurateur Jamie Mulholland (owner of Ketchy Shuby and co-founder of The Surf Lodge), that recently opened at the Capri Southampton hotel. An extension of his SoHo spot, Ketchy Shuby, the restaurant offers seafood-focused dishes in a space, designed by Dimitri Hyacinthe. The menu from chef Sean Olnowich features fan favorites such as stracciatella with heirloom tomatoes, blackberries, raspberries, basil water and smoked salt, Montauk fluke crudo with leche de tigre, gooseberry, citrus and pickled fresnos, blue crab bucatini with charred tomato, corn, dried chilies, shellfish cream and lemon and a whole grilled sea bream with capers, olives, parsley and lemon.

The cocktail menu was developed by mixologist Wayne Gravesande and features cocktails like Catch a Fire with Illegal Mezcal, pineapple, coconut liqueur, cinnamon and lime. The 260-seat restaurant and poolside lounge showcasses a floral archway entry and opens up to the bright and airy space helmed with a green herringbone bar, floral banquette seating and reclaimed wood walls filled with photography of ocean and mountain landscapes shot by New York City-based artist Lee Jaffe.

Drawing on Nantucket’s rich seafaring past and Quaker influence, Nantucket-based designer Audrey Sterk infused new life into the 29 cottages, which occupy an enviable perch along the slips of the Nantucket Boat Basin. Dan Abrams, the chief legal affairs correspondent for ABC News and host of Dan Abrams Live on NewsNation, is the founder and owner of EV&EM Vineyards vineyard and tasting room on Long Island’s North Fork. The 44-acre property dates back to 1984, boasting some of the area’s oldest vines, which originally supplied grapes to Long Island Wine Growers before becoming a full-fledged winery in 1996. Recently, Abrams, who has a home in Flanders, purchased the vineyard and worked closely with managing partner Vanessa Price to rebrand the vineyard (now named after his two children Everett and Emilia). EV&EM showcases three wine collections–EV&EM, Ev&em2, and Reserve–all with a focus on an array of French grape varieties.

DuJour talked with Abrams, who’s been coming to the Hamptons for 25 years, to learn about the new venture and what he loves about the North Fork.

What do you love about the North Fork?

It feels like Montauk circa 1998. Everything feels local, unaffected and gorgeous.

What’s your favorite North Fork memory?

First time I went wine tasting on the North Fork. I was amazed at the quality of (some) of the wines.

How did you get into the wine and hospitality game?

I was a partner in a restaurant called The Lion and then White Street but had always dreamed of owning a vineyard. I have had a wine collection for almost 30 years.

What was special about this vineyard that you wanted to acquire it in 2021?

The moment I walked in, I recognized the untapped potential, at first in the physical space perched above the 42-acre property and then when I got to spend some time with the vines and wines I knew with some significant investment and changes we would have a fantastic luxury winery.

What’s your favorite wine varietal?

I tend to be a cabernet and pinot noir drinker.

What wines have you released thus far? What’s next?

We offer three wine collections–EV&EM, Ev&em2 and Reserve–with around 2-8 wines in each tier. We are slowly rolling out the Reserve tier of our 2022 vintages, and are in the process of redesigning our wine bottles to reflect the stripes that are showcased on our rosé.

Favorite places in the North Fork to visit?

Main St Biscuit is our go to for brunch–best pancakes I have ever had anywhere. Schmidt’s farmstand is a must for their horseradish mustard and Harbes Farm is an amazing place for the kids.

Upstairs, the ready-to-wear salon features a dynamic mix of antique and contemporary furniture and decorative art including chairs by the Italian furniture designer Augusto Bozzi upholstered in custom fabrics, lion sculptures from the Italian ceramicist Bruno Gambone, custom gilt tables from the French-Swedish artist Ingrid Donat and a 12-paneled 18th-century Chinese Coromandel screen. Artwork by Andrei Molodkin, Johan Creten, Heinz Mack, Vera Luter, Mario Deluigi and François Morellet are on display throughout.

The store opens with Virginie Viard’s spring/summer ready-to-wear collection, inspired by freedom, movement and the seaside gardens of Villa Noailles, a modernist home in Hyères, France, designed by the architect Robert Mallet-Stevens in 1929. Lightweight tweed and neoprene suiting, striped terry cloth jackets, swimsuits, lace dresses and trousers and transparent organza separates made for layering. “I tried to bring one thing and its opposite together in the coolest way possible,” says Viard. “And the gardens and swimming pool of the villa Noailles, that exceptional setting, lend themselves to that rather well.”

Italian heritage brand Fendi has opened a new boutique at Waikiki’s Royal Hawaiian Center in Honolulu. The a 3,186-square-foot space showcases men’s and women’s leather goods, accessories, ready-to-wear clothing and shoes. Honoring the Roman roots of the Maison, the façade features handmade concrete palm tiles, which recalls the arches of Fendi’s headquarters at Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana. Upon entering, guests are welcomed to the first floor of the multi level boutique, which features the brand’s iconic bags on travertine shelves. The first floor’s men’s universe features green and camel tones, characterized by a curated mix of furniture and palm tiles alongside wooden and raffia elements. Hawaiian Acacia koa wood enriches the space with an exquisite staircase enhanced with a special wall in striped travertine with inserts of the label’s FF codes in red travertine. On the second floor, Patagonia marble and concrete flooring is covered by handmade agave fiber carpets in golden hues, plaster walls are complemented by silver and champagne metal display and shoes are presented on marble shelves. The space is enriched by a dedicated seating area with Fendi Casa furniture, that plays into the raffia and wood accented environment.

During his 20 years in Las Vegas, nightlife pioneer Sean Christie was involved in game-changing venues from Jet and Light to Blush and Encore Beach Club. At the 55,000-square-foot Encore Beach Club, Christie was at the forefront of the Vegas day-club boom, as well as the rise of the mega-club. He also helped jump-start the city’s electronic dance music scene by bringing in DJs like Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki, Skrillex, Deadmau5, Tiësto and Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. And, recently, the former president of events and nightlife at MGM Resorts International and executive vice president of business development for Wynn Resorts has founded Carver Road Hospitality, alongside marketing executive Nelson Famadas. In December 2021, the company debuted in Las Vegas with Carversteak at Resorts World Las Vegas. Then, moving east, the team debuted Rosevale Kitchen + Cocktail Room and Starchild Rooftop Bar & Lounge at the Civilian hotel in New York City.

Rosevale Kitchen serves elevated American fare in a brasserie setting and features a curved, ribbed leather ceiling and mirror panels accented by red leather banquettes and brass accents. Divided into two dining areas, the bright front room houses dining area and a bar while the back room is more subdued, and leads to the Secret Garden, where a custom ceiling installation, designed by floral and event designer Preston Bailey, emphasizes the secluded romantic garden setting. Rosevale Cocktail Room, guided by Francesco Lafranconi, breathes innovative life into mixology. Paying homage to its proximity to Broadway, the room is adorned in Broadway ephemera from blockbusters past and present. Its outdoor terrace provides a tranquil respite from the bustling city. Operational year-round, Starchild boasts two outdoor patios and a retractable rooftop that can quickly transform to become a fully open-air space with panoramic views of the New York skyline and Hudson River. Shaped with the help of Stevie Guttman, the venue offers cocktails and light bites and, on weekends, DJs spin house, funk, soul and disco. Celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Neil Patrick Harris, Rami Malek, Alexandra Daddario and Hailee Steinfeld have all visited the hotel’s venues. “The partnership with Civilian was born from Jason Pomeranc and I recognizing the need for more aspirational food and beverage concepts in the neighborhood,” says Christie. “With Rosevale Kitchen + Cocktail Room and Starchild, we can program and curate experiences from cocktail hour through dinner and then late night.”

Chanel Opens A Fine Jewelry Boutique On Fifth Avenue

Chanel has opened a two-story boutique dedicated to the brand’s watches and fine jewelry at 730 Fifth Avenue. This golden jewel box on Fifth Avenue was designed by the brand’s frequent collaborator architect Peter Marino. Framed by the Beaux-Arts gilded architecture of the historic Crown Building, built in 1921, the storefront is adorned with honed and grooved black granite and intricately cast gold bronze screens positioned behind an iron and glass façade. The interiors reflect a delicate yet striking palette of gold and black, enhanced by touches of rock crystal and an exceptional collection of contemporary and fine art (Louise Nevelson, Anna-Eva Bergman and Vik Muniz to name a few), antiques and custom furniture and lighting. The boutique’s bold entryway sets an elegant tone, with black and gold lacquer paneling and antique wooden lotus bouquets from Japan’s Edo Period. Two dedicated fine jewelry salons on the main floor feature double-height ceilings with ornate touches such as hand-applied coromandel-style wall finishes, reminiscent of the coromandel screens in Mademoiselle Chanel’s apartment, an elaborately carved 18-inch-high gilt Regency-era mirror and a contemporary ebonized wood writing desk. A dramatic staircase leading to the mezzanine floor (which holds two more fine jewelry salons) features custom balustrades crafted from 24-karat gold framed plates of rock crystal by Goossens. In addition to the brand’s signature J12 watches and Coco Crush fine jewelry offerings, the brand will debut exclusive high jewelry creations “Eternal N°5” composed of an exceptional transformable diamond necklace and earrings that recall the shape of the Chanel No. 5 perfume bottle stopper.

Rising 47 stories into the New York skyline, the Park Lane New York is an iconic example of Emery Roth & Sons’ trademark post-war architecture style. Design firm Yabu Pushelberg has created the hotel’s interiors while mindfully restoring the existing architectural details of the historic Central Park South building. The 47-story property, managed by Highgate, features 611 rooms–nearly half boasting sweeping park views–and 11,000 square feet of reimagined indoor and outdoor event space. Nightlife and hospitality maestro Scott Sartiano has conceptualized three new food and beverage venues throughout the hotel including an 80-seat lobby bar with an outdoor terrace (Rose Lane), an intimate restaurant on the hotel’s second floor (Park Lane Café) and a rooftop lounge and cocktail bar on the 47th floor offering sweeping panoramic views (Darling).

DuJour spoke with the property’s managing director and VP of operations Niles Harris to discover what makes it so special.

What’s the most requested room at the property?

The Belvedere Suite.

What makes it so special?

Located on the 45th floor, the two-bedroom penthouse, which spans a total of 1,750 square feet, was recently refreshed as part of the hotel’s $80 million renovation and has been transformed into a unique, fun and inclusive retreat. With breathtaking views of Central Park in its entirety, the suite boasts plush king beds dressed in Bellino Fine Linens, a designer bathroom with walk-in shower, a walk-in closet and sitting area, and a media room with 75″ LED TVs with theater style seating for up to 15 guests.

What is the nightly rate for this room?

What’s your favorite design element on property?

The murals in the guest rooms and common spaces, which are designed by local artist studio En Viu, are one of my favorites—they’re playful, colorful and all inspired by Central Park. There are also a number of original fixtures around the property, such as the chandeliers and glowing wall lamps, that bring a thoughtful historic touch. And, of course, the way in which the design truly encapsulates the spirit of the city—the park facing windows take on a vast view that brings a sense of openness right into our guests’ rooms.

What’s your personal favorite room? Why?

My favorite room is the Meadow Suite. There are only two of them in the hotel and they are located on our top guest floor, 46 stories above Central Park. There’s something special about these rooms. The decor is warm and the suite is spacious, with a very comfortable large living room adjacent to the bedroom. If you take a moment on the couch and look out at the view on Central Park, you might just believe it’s your apartment on Central Park South.

What special perk or amenity do you offer that no one knows about?

Park Lane New York is renowned for its exclusive Caviar Hotline service, however the bespoke offering still feels like the hotel’s best kept secret. The 24/7 service gives guests on-demand access to the finest caviar, simply by dialing 5. Guests can indulge in a specialty menu of small and large tins of Petrossian Royal Ossetra caviar, as well as smoked salmon blinis with caviar and crème fraiche, caviar nachos and deviled eggs topped with caviar.

How about one more fun fact about the property?

It’s a little-known fact that there are two distinct design themes throughout the property’s rooms based on the view. Central Park facing rooms and City View rooms each have their own color palette and aesthetic. Blues and greens were implemented to blend in with the cool tones of the cityscape, while pinks and warm creams are used to compliment the park foliage.

Cipriani brings its glamorous Italian aesthetic and signature Venetian cuisine to the heart of Beverly Hills for the brand’s first West Coast restaurant. Designed by Florentine architect Michele Bonan, who has collaborated with Cipriani on several other locations, Cipriani Beverly Hills features polished wood interiors with steel trim, distinctive brown leather chairs, Murano chandeliers, black and white fashion photography and deep green velvet accents. This spring, the venue will open a Jazz Café designed by Carlos Almada, which captures the timeless elegance and sophistication of old Hollywood with zebra patterned textiles, arches, palm trees and a grand piano along with a 8o-seat patio for outdoor dining. Fan favorite dishes, served at lunch and dinner, include beef carpaccio, tuna tartare, baked tagliolini with ham and vanilla meringue cake. The brand’s famed Bellini, of course, is also on offer. “We are very excited to open in the heart of Beverly Hills, in an area that sees many prestigious art and entertainment neighbors and we are looking forward to serving local and international customers alike,” says the brand’s U.S. president Maggio Cipriani.

For 25 years, Aspen One, the parent company of Aspen Skiing Company, Aspen Hospitality and AspenX, has questioned the status quo of environmentalism and led the industry in sustainability action and advocacy. Recently, it launched its Sustainability Report, “25 Years of Questions,” and challenged how environmentalism is being approached by not only the rest of the ski industry but by other businesses. The report not only rejects the conventional sustainable business practices of chronicling carbon offsets or operational greening, but considers those approaches to be complicit in the larger issue of fossil fuels and global warming. The report instead asks: what if businesses used their power, money and voice to drive political and systemic change? What if the outdoor industry carried as much political clout as the NRA? What if we spent less time tracking carbon offsets and more time lobbying for a carbon tax? The report showcases examples of how Aspen One is tackling these problems and modeling solutions to the industry (a no-new-gas building policy, or the recent passing of the largest climate bill in history). The report boldly rejects conventional sustainable business practices like carbon offsets, net zero promises and an exclusive focus on tracking operational greening, calling those actions complicit with the fossil fuel industry. The company aims to promote movement building, and to convene next-generation thinkers to double down on the fight against climate change. “Net zero, offsets, carbon targets, carbon neutrality. Those aren’t real climate solutions,” says Aspen One SVP of Sustainability, Auden Schendler. “As more companies than ever jump on the sustainability train, planet-cooking emissions continue to rise. What if businesses used influence, voice, and money to drive political change?” Aspen One’s sustainability strategy is focused on using the company’s unique influence to drive political and systemic change. Chef Daniel Boulud has reopened the doors to his Upper East Side institution, Café Boulud, on 63rd Street and Park Avenue in partnership with the hospitality division of Barnes International Realty. The Café Boulud brand holds significant meaning to Chef Boulud as it is named after the original Café Boulud which his grandparents opened over 100 years ago outside of Lyon, France. Chef Boulud opened Café Boulud in New York City in 1998 and has since expanded the brand to locations in Palm Beach, the Bahamas and Toronto, with a new Beverly Hills location expected to open next year. “Creating a new home for Café Boulud has been my focus and priority for the last year,” says Boulud. “Given the special place it holds in my heart, I feel very fortunate to be able to bring it back to the Upper East Side. The restaurant is a vibrant celebration of my French roots and love for New York from our inspired cuisine and warm hospitality to a beautifully designed space and lively atmosphere.” The Chef’s Dinex Group also operates Restaurant Daniel, Le Pavillon, Centurion NY (in partnership with American Express) and the Blue Box Café at the Tiffany Landmark in New York City.

Under the helm of executive chef Romain Paumier, menu highlights include ris de veau “Du Barry” (a glazed sweetbread with ginger jus, cauliflower, toasted oats and purslane), grilled salmon with citrus, cilantro, crudités and spicy avocado dressing and a roasted Pennsylvania duck with persimmon jam, endive and monk peppercorn duck jus. “We are thrilled to bring back such an iconic restaurant, and it is very fitting that 25 years after it first opened, Café Boulud is more relevant than ever as part of the New York dining scene,” says Dinex CEO Sebastien Silvestri. The bright and airy space is designed by Jeffrey Beers International featuring art deco and vintage accents, black and white tile, wood floors and vaulted ceilings with decorative, clover-shaped molding. The brick façade with restored mosaic decorations gives way to interiors that resemble a light and airy apartment organized around two distinct spaces. Toward the front of the boutique is an open two-story space featuring a sculpture-like chandelier of glass globes is suspended over a table by Kelly Wearstler. The fragrance and candle collection are showcased on tables while a double-height bookcase highlights a selection of accessories and scented objects. A wood-paneled salon with a large dining table and fireplace is dedicated to the home and decoration collections while a bath salon (dedicated to the Art du Soin collection) is centered around a mirror surrounded by veneered furnishings with decorative elements.

Café Carmellini Opens in NoMad

Chef Andrew Carmellini (The Dutch, Locanda Verde and Lafayette, to name a few) has opened a new Italian and French restaurant, Café Carmellini, in NoMad inside the new Fifth Avenue Hotel. Dish highlights include lobster cannelloni, osetra and red snapper meunière, rabbit cacciatore and duck tortellini. Scallops Cardoz is an homage to the late chef Floyd Cardoz, with whom Carmellini worked in the 1990s. “Café Carmellini is New York at heart and Italian and French in spirit,” says Carmellini. “My career began in fine dining at era-defining restaurants like Lespinasse, Le Cirque and Café Boulud in New York City. After focusing successfully on more casual dining for 15 years, I felt a calling to return to fine dining. Café Carmellini is the most personal restaurant of my career and the sum total of everything I am passionate about.”
