Originally constructed in 1896, the building is the former palace of Napoleon Bonaparte’s grandnephew, Prince Roland Bonaparte, who lived there with his mother and daughter.
Today, the property—located in the 16th arrondissement near the Palais de Tokyo—is one of Paris’ top five-star hotels, blending traditional French décor with subtle Asian touches (the Shangri-La brand hails from Hong Kong.) It is also among the city’s most romantic accommodations: an average of three proposals occur on the property every week. That’s not toosurprising, given how luxurious yet intimate the hotel feels—and the fact that come nighttime, rooms with Tower views are treated to a spectacular light-show, which guests can view from bed.

Because…
The Imperial Suite is very popular because of its history, as it used to be Prince Roland Bonaparte’s private apartment when he used to be master of the premises. Also, it is our biggest suite, with 18th-century furniture, high ceilings and a princess-like dressing area.
Fun fact:
The building was the former home of Roland Bonaparte, the great nephew of Napoleon, who lived in this residence with his mother and daughter. Built in 1896, it had an eclectic style and caught the attention of Parisian socialites of the time. Descendants of the Bonaparte family still come to visit regularly.
