When you’re the manufacturer of the world’s finest pianos, celebrating a milestone comes with an obligation to go above and beyond. And that’s exactly what Steinway & Sons did in honor of their 600,000th piano. The iconic brand commissioned master artisan Frank Pollaro to create a one-of-a-kind instrument that embodies luxury and quality craftsmanship.
Pollaro’s creation, “The Fibonacci,” is a stunningly designed masterpiece handcrafted from six individual logs of Macassar Ebony. The fluid design of the Fibonacci spiral is accentuated by synthetic ivory inlays and bronze details.
“As I considered the number 600,000, the Fibonacci spiral came to mind. They way in which it continues to grow but stay true to its form is very much like Steinway & Sons over these many years,” said Pollaro in a release. “Combining the universal languages of music and mathematics suddenly made perfect sense.
The piano, which will be unveiled at the end of this month in Beverly Hills, is priced at $2.4 million.
