Ladies who lunch gathered at Cipriani on 42nd Street on May 22nd for the annual spring Lying-In Luncheon. Sponsored by Chanel, the lunch brought out Lizzie Tisch, Lauren Santo Domingo, Fabiola Beracasa, Leslie Fremar and others to raise money for the Lying-In Hospital, which is part of New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Under the direction of Frank A. Chervenak, M.D., the chief doctor at the hospital, Lying-In is dedicated to improving patient care, research and training within the childbirth arena.
As nutritionist Keri Glassman, who had both her children at the hospital, noted, “When I gave birth to my son, he was two weeks late and it was a difficult birth. The hospital was amazing. They really give patients cutting-edge care.”
The guests, swathed in summery frocks from Chanel, Valentino and Peter Pilotto, dined on a spring vegetable salad, sliced beef tenderloin over ratatouille and lemon meringue pie, all while watching an inspiring video about a woman whose child was saved by emergency surgery performed by the doctors at New York-Presbyterian.
After lunch, Nightline special correspondent Juju Chang, moderated a conversation about beauty and self-image between psychiatry professor and author Gail Saltz, M.D. and dermatologist/psychiatrist Amy Wechsler, M.D. Topics discussed included postpartum depression, stem-cell advances in beauty treatments, addictive behavior in children, setting limits for your children, the prevalence of social media in kids’ lives and the importance of maintaining a healthy body self-image.
As the women scooted back uptown to pick up their kids from school or headed back to the office, they left with the complete Sublimage skin care line from Chanel in hand.
