A Pop-Up Art Show You Don’t Want to Miss

Nine never-before-seen paintings by Francesco Clemente debut for a limited time

Italian contemporary artist Francesco Clemente conceived an extraordinary suite of paintings beginning in 1998 called DORMIVEGLIA, and now the frescoed works are on display for the first time.

The series is named after the Italian expression that connotes a half-asleep, dreamlike state and depicts statuesque goddesses fragmented across land and sea. Clemente’s work—heavily influenced by his own nomadic experiences—is famed for its depiction of subjects in various states of consciousness, and DORMIVEGLIA is no exception.

Click through the attached gallery to see the sublime paintings on display and the guests who came to view them. The pop-up project—on view through October 9—is open (by appointment only) Monday through Friday from 10am to 6pm at Kim Heirston’s townhouse in New York City.
