The search for a solution to dry, brittle hair ends with oil

The damage inflicted on your hair from heat styling, over-washing, coloring and more demands attention and care, and the latest trend in creating softer, healthier strands is decidedly slick. Hair oils add a layer of moisture and protection—plus they’re incredibly easy to use.

Nick Stenson, the Artistic Director of Matrix, has been using the sleek stuff on his clients for the past three years. He recommends putting your oil of choice in your hands and evenly distributing it throughout dry (or damp) hair. Avoid the scalp, which is already a naturally oily part of the head, and focus on the mid-lengths and ends. “Also, make sure you put a warm towel on your head before you put the oil in,” adds Celebrity Colorist Rita Hazan. “It helps [the hair] absorb it a little better.”
