Lake Como has been the setting for many contemporary films over the years—Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Thirteen, Star Wars: Episode II and Casino Royale, to name a few—and for good reason. The shockingly beautiful surroundings play host to jet-setters and celebrities alike. It is, after all, where George Clooney famously owns a vacation home.

Because…
It is dedicated to my Grandmother Maria, and thus it is so special to me. Charm and tenderness abound in this magnificent fourth-floor suite, where the atmosphere is both traditional and romantic, as light as a tulle veil. In the center of the bedroom stands a romantic four-poster bed looking out over the lake, filling your eyes with every shade of blue the moment you awake.
Fun fact:
The hotel opened in 1910 with a party and what followed until the outbreak of World War I was great splendor. For over a year during World War I, the hotel was requisitioned for use as a military hospital. In the 1930s, Grand Hotel Tremezzo was bought by the Sampietro family and throughout the terrible years of the Second World War, the hotel remained open and when the war ended it was ready to welcome with its customary grace.
