Maroon 5, the hitmakers behind songs like “Girls Like You” and “Sugar” recently released their latest single “Memories” and to celebrate, they teamed up with Apple to create a special offering for fans. For a limited time only, the band’s single will be featured in the collection of soundtrack options available in the Memories feature in the Photos app on iPhones and iPads. This marks the first time Apple has collaborated with an artist to launch a new song utilizing the Photos app.
The Memories feature in Photos on iOS13 and iPadOS allows users to create curated collections of themed moments in the form of photos and videos. With the release of Maroon 5’s single “Memories,” users can now incorporate the song into their memory as the soundtrack to the visual keepsake. Frontman and co-founder of Maroon 5 Adam Levine says of their new song, “No matter what happens in the world around you, think about those people you love and share some good memories. We wrote this song to bring people together. It’s an important message for right now, and we love that we can still surprise ourselves and our fans after all these years.”
With a positive message and a captivating sound, “Memories” goes way beyond simply being the band’s new song. Throughout Maroon 5’s two decades together creating music, touring, hanging out, celebrating, and dealing with Levine’s ever-changing hair, the guys have a lot of history. They were able to reflect on those times through their partnership with Apple and share their sentiments with fans.
“In addition to the song, the band would also like to share some of our fondest memories that shaped us over the years. We urge you to do the same. Sometimes, amidst all the static, it’s a valuable exercise to peel back the layers and share our most basic memories. It’s what unites us and makes us one human race,” Levine says.
