French New Wave

Iconic swimwear brand Vilebrequin feted the debut of its first in-hotel boutique in Los Angeles with a poolside party—and plenty of eye candy

The Fairmont Miramar Hotels & Bungalows felt more St. Tropez than Santa Monica last Thursday when the SoCal oceanfront property hosted a bash to celebrate the opening of swimwear brand Vilebrequin’s first hotel shop. Guests gathered poolside to toast the affair while ogling the toned bodies of models clad in the French brand’s signature prints. Partygoers nibbled on farm-fresh snacks from Fig restaurant’s chef Ray Garcia and moved to tunes from the likes of The Beach Boys. The event also toasted the swimwear brand’s longtime relationship with the hotel property, which began with beach butlers sporting the bold pieces and grew to include weekly Vilebrequin-hosted summer volleyball tournaments. “It was really born out of fun,” said Vilebrequin President Brian Lange of the new Fairmont boutique. The space marks the brand’s fourth address in the Los Angeles area, including a Rodeo Drive flagship, a Topanga Canyon boutique and a newly minted Malibu Lumber Yard outpost. Talk about making a splash on the swimwear scene!
