The moment guests step foot into lobby of New Orleans’ Windsor Court hotel, they’re transported to what seems like a bygone era—a place where well-dressed Southern bells gather for high tea at noon, travelers sip pre-dinner martinis and throaty jazz singers croon songs by request.
Inspired by England’s Windsor Castle, the property fuses British sensibility with the classic French culture of New Orleans. It’s an atmosphere that’s attracted some seriously high-profile guests, plus a rich history of stories—like the time Paul McCartney sang an impromptu love song to his then fiancé Heather Mills at the piano in the Polo Club Lounge. More recently, the hotel’s concierge arranged a carriage-drawn scavenger through the French Quarter for Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. As the Windsor Court celebrates its 30th anniversary, now seemed like the perfect time to chat with the hotel’s general manager David Teich. Below, he offers more celeb-studded stories and a glimpse at the hotel’s most requested room.
Most requested room in the hotel:
“2117 and 2118.”
What makes it special:
“It’s a two-bedroom corner suite with an attached Guest Room, and it’s located on the Club Floor, which is like an exclusive inn within the hotel. The Club Floors have their own private lounge with dedicated concierge service, three culinary presentations per day, outside terraces, beautiful riverside and city views. Suite 2117 offers 890 square feet of expansive space and classic English and French décor with dramatic river views from both the bedroom and living rooms. It has outside balconies, a large living room with galley wet bar and an Italian Marble Bath. The suite and adjoining guest room are secluded at the end of the hall with their own private entrance. These suites are requested a year in advance.”
