Not much is worse than suffering a long flight squished into a too-small seat, unable to stretch your legs without climbing over your seatmate. That’s what makes travelers so appreciative of first class cabins. However, some airlines are taking comfortable flying to an extreme level, one we didn’t think was possible. From in-flight nannies to designer linens, these first class tickets are so exceedingly lavish, you’ll never want to disembark.
Singapore Airlines
Just because you’re stuck on a plane doesn’t mean your style should be left on the tarmac, and Singapore Airlines agrees. For a price, you can envelop yourself in Singapore’s Givenchy pajamas and linens. Not only are the meals superb, but the Givenchy tableware is as nice as anything you would have at home—or maybe even nicer.
Cathay Pacific
Most airlines couldn’t be bothered to hire a decorator, but that’s certainly not the case for Cathay Pacific, a company that clearly knows the importance of aesthetics. Handcrafted sculptural artwork created by Maria Lobo and Linda Leviton adorns the first class cabin walls, and vases are filled with fresh orchids. Your ticket also comes with a goodie bag. Men receive a stylish docket by Ermenegildo Zegna filled with Acca Kappa toiletries, while ladies receive a flashy clutch by Trussardi (who once designed bags for the British royal family) packed with products from Australian brand Aesop. You’ll exit the plane looking fresh and feeling fancy.
Virgin Atlantic
The drinks are flowing on these flights, but you don’t have to stay in your seat to enjoy them. In Virgin Atlantic’s upper class cabin, guests can sip cocktails and mingle with fellow travelers at the longest bar in the sky, which is separated from the rest of the plane by curtains covered in Swarovski crystals. Too much flash? Never.
Etihad
Known for their long-haul flights to exotic locales, Etihad just unveiled the perfect way to get there: The Residence. For those of you who find even their suites too cramped, Etihad will now offer an apartment in the sky on the carrier’s new Airbus A380s. The first of their kind, The Residence apartments come with a butler and private chef. Passengers will have three rooms, including a double bedroom, a living room and an ensuite bathroom. Need less space, but still want some privacy? Opt for the one-bedroom First Apartment or the Business Studio.
Emirates
If that’s still not enough room for you, it’s time to consider renting a commercial airline’s plane. Go above and beyond first class by chartering Emirates’ jet, known as the Emirates Executive, which has 10 bedrooms with a private bathroom for each one (heated floors and all), a lounge area and a chef that will cater to your every craving.
