Nestled among the pristine waters and palm tree lined beaches of the Dominican Republic, Tortuga Bay is comprised of thirteen private villas designed exclusively by the late Oscar de la Renta. The boutique hotel, which recently underwent a four-month long renovation led by Markham Roberts, provides unparalleled service and is the only AAA 5 Diamond property in the country.
Amenities include VIP airport service, fine dining at the multiple award-winning restaurants on site, and access to a new cigar humidor and wine cellar featuring 600 bottles of wine. Guests also can enjoy access to their own personal golf cart, which allows them to explore the rest of the resort’s facilities including the 27-hole La Cana Golf Club, world-renowned Six Senses Spas or the private 1,500-acre ecological reserve.
Below, Tortuga Bay’s General Manager, Roger Belletti, gives us the scoop on the most popular room at the resort and how Oscar de la Renta’s legacy lives on.

Any celebrity guests?
The hotel has hosted actors, presidents and event royalty. It’s also home to the annual Oscar de la Renta Tennis Tournament which raises funds for the education of the ODLR Tennis Center ball boys. The tournament was a favorite of de la Renta’s and is still attended by many of his close friends including Anna Wintour.
