Google has found its way into your morning routine.
One of the company’s software engineers, Max Braun, has invented a way to provide a technological twist on everyone’s favorite piece of bathroom décor: the mirror. The master tinkerer took to Medium to tease photos of his smart mirror (powered by Android and weather forecast APIs) and to share exactly how he built the gadget everyone wants to have.
“So I ordered myself a two-way mirror, a display panel and controller board, plus a bunch of components and arts & crafts supplies,” Braun says in his post. “ In reality there was quite a bit of experimentation and some dead ends before I got to this set of parts.”
In its current state, the mirror offers a visual of the daily top headlines, the date, temperature, weather forecast and time, but Braun promised his intent to build in any remaining features that are already offered by Google Now. Oh, and did we mention the open-ended voice search? It’ll be like Siri for your bed head. Simply genius.
