Room Request! Four Seasons Resort Langkawi

See inside the most requested room at this Malaysian retreat

The Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, occupying a mile-long stretch of beach in Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Geopark, is a paradise for nature lovers and adrenaline junkies alike. Families will enjoy the child-friendly amenities to the north, including the family pool and watersports center, and those seeking a more secluded stay will love the majestic adult infinity pool and cabanas to the south. Make sure to schedule a boat safari through the nearby mangroves, home to monkeys, eagles, and rare orchids, as well as a treatment at the Geo Spa, where guests can unwind in a private floating pavilion set against dramatic limestone cliffs.

At night, sample sunset cocktails from the Middle Eastern-themed Rhu Bar, followed by dinner at one of three superb fine-dining restaurants—the crispy fried red snapper at Ikan-Ikan, serving traditional Malaysian cuisine, is a must!

Below, Four Seasons Resort Langkawi General Manager Alastair McAlpine tells DuJour about the most sought-after room on the property.

The most requested room:
Definitely the Beach Villas. They’re perfect for honeymooners and couples alike.

What makes it so special:
The combination of setting and size—both inside and out. Each of the 10 Beach Villas cover about 2,300 square-feet and has a wide frontage with steps directly down onto the 1.5-kilometer beach. In addition to a really large open plan bedroom and living area, there’s a private spa room for in-villa massages, a dressing area and huge bathroom with a step-up, four-man tub. The bathroom opens onto a tropical outdoor shower garden, while the front has a plunge pool, hammock, sundeck, patio and hammock. It’s a great retreat for two and the wide-open views of the Andaman Sea really enhance the feeling of spaciousness and serenity. They’re located close to the Adult Quiet Pool, which is our 55-meter beachfront infinity pool, complete with private cabanas.

The rate:
The rate for Beach Villas starts at MYR 6,120 per night (approximately USD $1,700)

Your personal favorite:
The Family Beach House, which offers the ultimate family beach vacation experience. Similar to the Beach Villas, these rooms have been adapted to include a kids’ bedroom complete with toys, Xbox and beach holiday necessities. They are near to the multi-tiered family pool and Kids for All Seasons clubhouse, where parents can drop their kids off for a day of rock-climbing, archery, pony rides along the beach, batik painting and kids-only boat tours into the nearby mangrove forests. Each Family Beach House has its own plunge pool, big enough for kids to swim in, and spacious patio, which is great for private evening barbecues at home with your own chef.

Because…
The Family Beach House offers a sitting area, private bedroom with a full marble bath, and a separate powder room. They are more intimate than our larger accommodations, making it feel more like a bayfront residence than a hotel suite. When you walk in, it’s easy to imagine yourself moving in. With corner views and windows for walls, you’ll never want to leave.

Fun fact:
The sheer beauty, scale and age of our natural surroundings: 48 acres of beachfront botanical gardens stretched across a 1.5 km beach backed by 550-million-year-old limestone cliffs and ancient rainforests in Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Geopark. It really is pretty amazing to be doing onsite rock-climbing, archery and mini-equestrian adventures alongside dusky leaf monkeys, hornbills and hundreds of brightly colored exotic birds, yet still within steps of the beach.
