Visit the Faraway Hotel in Nantucket This Summer

The new design-centric hotel offers unique experiences for visitors and locals alike

In the heart of Nantucket town, Blue Flag Partners recently debuted the boutique Faraway Hotel. A nautical theme is brought to life by warm blues at check-in, weathered trinkets displayed at the Sister Ship restaurant, aptly-named cocktails like the Bow Spritz served in the courtyard and rope fixtures and shell accents in guest rooms. “We felt that the time was right to introduce a design-driven property on the island,” says Brad Guidi, partner at Blue Flag Partners. “Our goal has always been to embrace and enhance the island’s culture, not to come in and try and change it,” Guidi says. “We work very hard to create experiences that are embraced by not only the newer visitors, but also the residents as well as lifelong travelers to the island.”

These experiences include opportunities to showcase island purveyors, like at Sister Ship, which features produce from Fog Town Farm and locally-sourced oysters and scallops. The Nantucket Bake Shop supplies the Portuguese bread served at the hotel’s morning coffee bar. New this summer is the Federal Suite, a three-bedroom house that will allow guests the privacy of a home but the convenience and service of staying at the Faraway hotel. “The Federal Suite is a wonderful addition to the Faraway collection of rooms and suites,” says Guidi. “You simply can’t get a better location for a three-bedroom home with incredible outdoor space if you want to be in the heart of the historic district.”
