Steven Tyler is Going Live on Instagram

On Friday, May 29, the rocker will be offering another $100,000 grant on behalf of his organization, Janie’s Fund

In 2015, rocker, activist, and actor Steven Tyler founded Janie’s Fund in partnership with the nonprofit organization Youth Villages. The Aerosmith frontman named his organization Janie’s Fund after the 1989 Aerosmith song, “Janie’s Got a Gun.” The organization works to provide support to young females who have suffered trauma through various forms of abuse and neglect. With behavioral and mental healthcare services offered in 21 states, Janie’s Fund and Youth Villages have proven to be an unwavering light for thousands of girls across the country.

Janie’s Fund has been an especially crucial organization during the past few months while most of the country was ordered to adhere to shelter in place rules. Many young children were already facing dangerous home environments and the stress of quarantine only added to the safety risks of adhering to the stay-at-home orders. Janie’s Fund responded to these risks by promoting the National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-4-A-CHILD) as well as announcing that Steven Tyler would be distributing $500,000 throughout the month of May to help young women in Youth Villages’ LifeSet program.

The LifeSet program is set up in cities across the country and annually provides help for over 2,000 young women and at-risk youth between the ages of 17 and 22 who need guidance to successfully navigate adulthood after suffering abuse or having left foster care. The program includes intensive services such as two weekly visits from specialists for up to one year to help individuals set and reach goals including graduating from high school, finding housing, seeking mental health services, and more.

Janie’s Fund is hosting their fifth and final Instagram Live on Friday, May 29. Over the past month these Instagram Live sessions have featured special guests such as Mia Tyler, Terry Crews, John Stamos, and Kristin Dattilo. In each session, questions from fans are answered and Steven Tyler donates $100,000 to a community to help increase resources for girls in the LifeSet program.
