On December 2nd, New Yorkers got that warm and fuzzy festive feeling at The Plaza’s Annual Tree Lighting and Afternoon Tea. Tiny fans of Eloise and Santa alike came out in their holiday best to kick off the month-long Christmas celebrations in the iconic century-old hotel.
Guests were the first to sample the new “Snowflake Tea,” served in the hotel’s majestic Palm Court, which offers up a three-tiered sampling of delightful treats, including warm scones with clotted cream and lemon curd, as well as gingerbread cookies and macaroons, and a red-boxed assortment of seasonal truffles to take home.
A Champagne toast in the Fifth Avenue foyer was followed by the lighting of the hotel’s elegant tree, bedecked in twinkling white lights and snowflake ornaments curated by Saks Fifth Avenue. Afterwards, Santa Claus posed for photos by the tree and took Christmas requests from little ones. He’ll be working overtime at the hotel this season, available for visits every day running up to Christmas.
The Snowflake Tea runs through December 31st and starts at $60 for adults. A portion of each sale will be donated to Volunteers of America-Greater New York. Find out more at theplazany.com.
