The past year has been rather difficult for Los Cabos. Ravaged by Hurricane Odile last September, the region suffered an estimated $1 billion worth of damage, forcing resorts throughout the area to close their doors for months on end. But things are finally starting to look up in Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula—tourists have returned, most resorts are back in business and the streets of downtown Cabo San Lucas are brimming with energy once again.
Cabo’s big comeback is perhaps what made this year’s The Art of Taste Food & Wine Festival a greater celebration than ever before. The event, hosted by The Resort at Pedregal, brings renowned chefs, wine-world luminaries and fervent foodies together for a four-day epicurean fiesta. Among the activities: Brian Malarkey, the Executive Chef and Restaurateur of Searsucker and Herringbone hosted a cooking demo; Ulysses Vidal of New York’s Employees Only taught a seminar on American Bourbon; Master Tequilier Bertha Gonzalez shared the story behind her brand Casa Dragones.
For four event-filled days, the 110-room resort became a culinary fantasyland, where Michelin-starred chefs mingled poolside with guests and live music prompted moonlit dance parties. Click through the gallery for a digital diary of the experience.
