Travel Through Time With Max Mara

The brand’s new exhibition celebrates the A-List style moments of Reese Witherspoon, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Gigi Hadid, Kate Middleton and more

With its beginnings tracing back to 1947, Max Mara was founded by Achille Maramotti, who started his career that year as a couture designer. Four years later, he officially established the House of Max Mara; the name “Mara” stemming from his own surname, and “Max,” a reference to Count Max, a chic local. Mr. Maramotti is responsible for hiring designers that went on to become prominent figures in the fashion industry, including Karl Lagerfeld, Narciso Rodriguez, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Dolce & Gabbana.

The staple of Max Mara has long been its exquisite outerwear pieces, and its new street style exhibit showcases exactly that. Wrapped in Luxury, the traveling exhibit, has already made its way to Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and the next stop is Beverly Hills on Nov. 16. The images on display span from 1991 to present day, featuring iconic stars wearing Max Mara, of course. Expect to see street sartorial gold in the form of photos of, but not limited to, Reese Witherspoon, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Lupita Nyong’o, Elle Fanning, Gigi Hadid, Kate Middleton, Eva Longoria, Kate Hudson, Susan Sarandon and Karlie Kloss. The remaining stops on the Wrapped in Luxury tour are Miami, Palm Beach and Houston, all of which take place in Max Mara stores. If seeing the exhibit leaves you with the urge to buy a Max Mara coat, the show’s in-store locale means every Max Mara coat you could ever want is right at your fingertips. And considering that winter is coming, it would certainly be responsible to ensure that your wardrobe is ready for the pending low temperatures.
