Rooney Mara’s Defining Moment

Carol
“I remember very clearly the day when we shot the scene when Carol and Therese first have lunch together. It was such an extraordinary scene, and we got to do it in these long takes. It was our first real back and forth scene with dialogue,” says Mara, who plays a woman consumed by a new love. “The experience and, in a way, the digesting of what’s going on between them happens in that scene. It’s when their fate is sealed.”
