Giorgio Armani’s Films of City Frames—a short-movie initiative launched last year in collaboration with Luxottica and Rai Cinema—has returned for 2015.
The brand, a longtime patron of the arts, has joined forces with the 59th BFI London Film Festival to showcase four films directed by emerging talent from top international film schools—Scuola Holden (Torino), Academia Internacional de Cinema (São Paulo), Sydney Film School (Sydney) and Seoul Institute of the Arts (Seoul). All four titles, inspired by real lives, will be set in the city where the film school is located and will feature protagonists wearing Giorgio Armani’s Frames of Life eyewear pieces. Dame Helen Mirren, special ambassador for this year’s project, will mentor the cinema students and provide her insight and expertise throughout the process.
“The success of the first edition of the short films presented in 2014 at the Toronto International Film Festival convinced me to pursue the initiative, offering another great opportunity to young talents who are not yet known and established,” Armani says in a release. “The London Film Festival was the right context for this second edition, considering the attention that the British Film Institute has always devoted to finding and supporting new talents.”
