Callae Brownstein’s Winter Indulgences

The Los Angeles-based jewelry designer and founder of e-commerce site CB Luxe tells DuJour her favorite things right now

Callae Brownstein isn’t one to shy away from color and texture. When designing the pieces for her fine jewelry and costume jewelry collections—CB Luxe and CBL, respectively—the Englewood, Colorado native curates a selection of vintage safety pins for necklaces, chunky colored stones for cocktail rings, and South Sea pearls and diamonds for drop earrings. The designer donates 10-50 percent of her jewelry sale proceeds to Cbeyondcancer, an initiative she founded in 2012 to help families see beyond the emotional and financial obstacles and focus on fighting cancer. Since its inception, CBeyondcancer has raised nearly $325,000 for families struggling with cancer. Now a resident of Beverly Hills, Brownstein shares her some of her favorite things to wear, see and do this winter from L.A. to Paris.

The Restaurant

“The pool room at the Four Seasons Restaurant.”

The Bar

Tower Bar at the Sunset Tower hotel. It’s the chicest spot in Los Angeles.”

The Hotel

Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris. I love that I can eat cake for breakfast and not have to have an excuse!”

The Getaway

The Grand Hotel Quisisana in Capri, Italy is my idea of summer camp.”

The Day Trip

“I love the drive from Los Angeles to Laguna Beach, especially when the sun is setting over the surfers.”

The Cultural Destination

“For me, I could go to LACMA or even drive around looking at all the amazing graffiti art. I love to look at art! I now appreciate all types and have started to collect, so I’ve become more interested in learning about all the different styles and artists. I am dying for a piece of Vic Muniz. My prized possession is a Mr. Brainwash, which I recently acquired. It has so much meaning behind it, and it’s the reason why I chose the piece I did.”

The Shopping Destination

“In Los Angeles, Just One Eye, Intermix, Perrin Paris.”

The Playlist

“Metallica, Lionel Richie, The Fray and Peter Cetera”

The Cocktail

“A Moscow Mule or a Corona”

The Fashion Picks

“Christopher Kane, Peter Pilotto and Azzedine Alaïa”

The Accessory

Aquazzura shoes! I bought two in every color because they’re so sexy and comfortable.”

The Jewelry

“Anything from CB Luxe, specially the Grey Baroque 52″ Strand of Pearls with at least four of the Rubber Diamonds and South Sea Pearl bracelets.”

The Book

“I’m obsessed with Dr. Joe Vitale’s Zero Limits.”

The Skin Care Regimen

“There are a few I could not live without. I love my Valerie Beverly Hills eye padsDr. Sebagh Rose de Vie Serum and Supreme Maintenance My Somme Institute program. There are several steps, and you have to dedicate yourself, but I promise your skin looks amazing even after one try!”

The Beauty Musts

“For evening, I use anything Clé de Peau Beauté—especially the concealer—sometimes mixed with Beauty for Life foundation. For daytime, I love Shiseido Advanced Hydro-Liquid Compact because it’s super natural looking. I also use a shimmer on top: A friend gave me a Chantecaille shimmer stick that I use all the time. I’m a  lipstick junky, so I have a few favorites. The best gloss is Valerie Beverly Hills, and the best lipsticks are Tom Ford.  And I swear by Voluminous by L’Oreal Paris mascara.”

The Winter Bucket List Item

“I would love to get away on a romantic journey with someone to a place like the Maldives or Morocco or even a spiritual journey to India. Spending quality time soaking up and embracing the culture while shutting down all devices.”
