The Digital Accessory

Swarovski launches a brand-new online platform for accessories designers to show off their most covetable pieces

The exclusivity of front row runway tickets may be on the decline thanks to the growing popularity of digital fashion shows. In recent years, designers have opted to present their various collections via live streaming or pre-recorded films, democratizing the way we view seasonal clothes and the visceral experience of digesting new trends. And while these digital platforms have mostly been reserved for full ready-to-wear looks, Swarovski, in partnership with the British Fashion Council and Council of Fashion Designers of America, has opened up the portal to up-and-coming accessory labels.

On Monday, Swarovski launched a new online destination: the Digital Accessory Showcase, which includes the fall 2013 collections from Atelier Swarovski and a curated group of BFC- and CFDA-selected designers. Jewelry, bags, shoes and eyewear labels range from Kotur to Christopher Kane and Linda Farrow to Sophia Webster – and are all accompanied by interviews with the designers themselves The brands are still relatively fresh on the industry scene, and this new site enables their incredible talents and covetable wares to be on display to a worldwide audience. On top of featuring some of this season’s most sought-after names, this is also the first time that accessories have been shown collectively online. Thanks to Swarovski and their partners, with just one or two clicks the next ‘It’ accessory could be digitally discovered.
