In celebration of his creativity and vision, fashion brand Citizens of Humanity invited editors and friends to view a collection of photographs by legendary dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov. The images, which came from his “Dance this Way” exhibit, showcased beautiful silhouettes of dancers in motion. From a pair of youthful girls at ballet practice to the hips of hula dancers in Hawaii, Baryshnikov captured the movement of dance in each shot. “I went into photography as my formal tribute to dance itself,” he says. “The work captures my memory of why I’d fallen in love.” As if his contribution to the arts is not enough, the Russian-American performer collaborated with Citizens of Humanity to design limited-edition t-shirts. Proceeds from the t-shirts, released October 5th, will benefit The Baryshnikov Arts Center, a place that offers aspiring and mid-career residency artists studio space at no cost. Guests like Jerome Dahan, Adriano Goldschmied and award-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood, came out to support the cause.
