Studded with celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Sarah Jessica Parker (donning $497,500 worth of Tiffany jewels), Jessica Biel and the film’s star Carey Mulligan, the Jazz Age-inspired bash on Thursday night – set in a 31-foot-high Tiffany Blue Box covering Rockefeller Center’s famous ice rink – also showcased the brand’s Blue Book collection of art deco jewels in vitrines around the room. At the floor’s center stood a towering tribute on mirrored risers, with 240 glasses and 142 magnums of Moët & Chandon Imperial champagne. As he welcomed guests to the cocktails and dinner dance, Michael J. Kowalski, chairman and CEO of Tiffany & Co., said, “the Jazz Age was a time of great energy and creativity in New York, and Tiffany provided the diamonds for this nonstop party.” Later on in the evening, as guests mingled and supped on a lavish buffet of shellfish, Smash star Megan Hilty performed a rousing rendition of “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.” And that night, the lyrics couldn’t be closer to the truth.
