A Chicago Party for Cameron Silver of Decades

Desiree Rogers and jeweler Marina B hosted a cocktail party to celebrate Silver’s new tome

On December 6, guests gathered at the Chicago apartment of Johnson Publishing CEO Desiree Rogers to toast Cameron Silver, the founder of LA’s Decades vintage couture boutique, and his new book DECADES: A Century of Fashion. Marina B (the jewelry brand from Marina Bulgari) was the official sponsor of the event, and among the local notables who attended were Ebony chairman Linda Johnson Rice, Ariel Investments president Mellody Hobson, Gwendolyn Butler, Ginny Clarke and Keisha Noel. Partygoers asked Silver to sign copies of his new book and enjoyed champagne and Pointy Snout caviar. Partygoers lingered in Rogers’ sumptuous living room well into the night, admiring her impressive art collection (a mix of African sculptures, textiles and contemporary pieces) amid a display of glittering Marina B ruby and diamond earrings and black pearl cocktail rings.

“It was a fun-filled and glamorous evening with a great group of women—businesswomen and philanthropists alike,” says Linda Johnson Rice. “And the book is beautiful and we all love fashion!”
