Chanel is opening a weekend-long pop-up boutique in a prime Meatpacking district location to showcase the new women’s BOY•FRIEND watch collection. The pop-up will be open to the public from Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13, between 11 am and 8 pm.
The octagonal-shaped timepiece is a tribute to the brand’s iconic Nº5 perfume bottle and is a playful riff on a borrowed-from-the-boys wardrobe that’s been a hallmark of the brand since founder Coco Chanel looked to men like English polo player Boy Capel and the Duke of Westminster for inspiration. And, in doing so, she reinvented femininity by adapting masculine elements.
