Tour a $7.99 Million Santa Monica Smart Home
This modern home (with 3D-printed walls) strikes a perfect balance of artistry and tech-centric practicality

We’ve seen 3D printed jewelry, chairs and even prosthetics, but now, for the first time, the possibility of 3D-printed walls is being introduced to architecture. Made for the modern California family, step inside this tech-centric and aesthetically minimalistic Santa Monica home (just minutes from the beach) with the first 3D-printed wall within a residence. This functional addition lives within the lower level entertainment room, perfect for projecting movies or just relaxing. Upon first view, an M.R. 3D-printed wall with a rain-screen facade is visible from the exterior. An M.R. wall, created by renowned design-builder and tech-artist Mario Romano (along with the rest of the smart home), is a multidimensional wall carved and textured to mold to the welcoming light, complexity and texture of the surroundings.
As for the rest of the house, natural light cascades from each crisp white surface and structure from both large sliding doors and windows as well as a massive skylight at the center point of the residence, 25 feet up. With inspiration taken from nature, this tech-centric home (complete with a built-in ceiling Alexa unit, wireless island charging station and anti-fingerprint buttons to electronically open each kitchen cabinet), was designed with fluidity and functionality at its core.
