Paris is filled with hidden passageways to escape even the busiest of areas. Duck into the Village Royal (also known as Cité Berryer), formerly an 18th century food market in the 8th arrondissement. Since its renovation in the '90s, the butchers and fishmongers have been replaced by small luxury boutiques, but the alley nevertheless kept the charm of yesteryear.
Provence or Paris? Just one of Paris’s three last working vineyards, the Clos Montmartre, still producing 1500 half-litre bottles each year. "April in Paris, this is a feeling" -Ella Fitzgerald & Frank Sinatra
After five years of living in this city, I’m still just as much of a sucker for this stuff as a first-timer in Paris. Still love a good ol' Paris soap opera.
Good morning from my #ParisPerfect breakfast nest. Did you know there's an apartment in the Eiffel Tower? Gustave Eiffel’s much rumoured private penthouse apartment was built on the fourth floor of his tower, 285 meter above ground, where he entertained the likes of Thomas Edison. And it's still there with all his furniture. I think it’s safe to assume Mr. Eiffel had the best view in town.
Situated in in the backstreets of Saint Germain, spilling out onto the sidewalk with its sizable al fresco tent, the time-honored brasserie, Café La Palette has two personalities. In the morning it's where artists of the quartier meet for a quiet coffee. Come sundown, it’s buzzing and the champagne is flowing. "An artist has no home in Europe except in Paris". -Friedrich Nietzsche
Paris is the sort of city you can walk around feeling like a Wes Anderson character. I even wrote a guide to Wes Anderson's Paris. Did you know he lives here when he's not off making his whimsical movies?
Find one of my secret views of the Eiffel Tower in a hidden art nouveau enclave, Square Rapp. I love playing peekaboo with the tower and finding unexpected views of her all across the city.
