6:30 AM: After waking up my kids, I snag a few cuddles from my son Max and our dog Stella—I’ll miss them while I am traveling this week!
7:00 AM: Starting off my day with my twins ahead of a busy travel day. We love to make smoothies together, adding in all of their favorite ingredients to make a yummy breakfast treat.
7:15 AM: We also had some delicious pancakes per their request! It’s so important for me to spend quality time with them while I’m home, breakfast together is one of our favorite things to do.
7:30 AM: I head out for a morning run around the neighborhood since I know that the next few days are going to be nuts with work and travel! Getting my endorphins pumping is necessary to keep my head clear and get my creativity flowing.
11:30 AM: I arrive in Aspen to work on a very special design project called Snow Beach. I’m hoping it will be the talk of the ski season! The change of scenery and weather is refreshing and it satisfies my travel bug for the week.
12:30 PM: My team and I head up the gondola and get ready for a day of set up at the top of Aspen Mountain. I partnered with AspenX on this project—I’m so thrilled for the public to experience it! Snow Beach allows visitors to step into a luxury apres ski experience in the setting of a mountain top beach club. The whole activation is meant to make you feel as if you are stepping into a Gray Malin photograph.
1:00 PM: While on the gondola—I work with my assistant on one of our upcoming photography launches, Gray Malin in Nantucket. We narrow down our final image selects and I create an artist statement for the series.
2:00 PM: We arrive at Snow Beach and get ready to set up the cabanas and chairs. This project has been two years in the making so it is important that every detail of the design, layout and experiential components are perfect. I want people to feel as if this is an entire world of Gray Malin—complete with the inspirations of vintage luxury, my aerial ski and beach images and the ultimate wintertime escape that they’ll remember for years to come.
3:00 PM: Finishing the setup of the layout, I chat with the team about making some adjustments in order for the club to flow well and offer up the best experience (both artistically and service wise) possible. I’m so proud of how it is turning out!
5:00 PM: After heading back down the mountain, I open my computer and answer some emails (the work never stops!) I give input on marketing images for my new collaboration with Cloth & Company—it is my very first line of adult furniture. The patterns are inspired by my photography and translated into an illustration style design. Some of the places that inspired the collection include Palm Beach, the Italian Riviera, New England beach towns and the coast of Hawaii.
7:00 PM: The day is finally coming to an end—I head back to my hotel room at The Little Nell and get ready for a team dinner.
10:00 PM: I’m thrilled to see how Snow Beach is received over the next six weeks. I celebrate over cocktails with my creative team at French Alpine Bistro after a day of hard work atop the mountain!
