8:30 AM: After my morning stuff (like face washing and showering and morning prayer and all that), the first thing I do is start to listen back to last night’s show. I lie on my couch with my stuffed bunny Hank, who was a gift from my girlfriend and goes everywhere with me, and play the show off my laptop.
9:30 AM: My brothers, AJ and Austin, who both get mentioned in the show, are here. A rare occasion. I’m psyched.
10:30 AM: There’s a place near me called Maman that I love. When it’s empty, I get a breakfast sandwich and eat by myself in the back. When there are other folks, I get it to go. Today? Empty. I sit and read Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner.
12:00 PM: I start winding my way from the Upper East Side southwestward. I wind up at Rockefeller Plaza and watch the flags while I listen to the show or a podcast. I finally bought a new phone, so I’m taking a lot of touristy photos. Here’s the flags of Liberia and Libya and Liechtenstein and I’m guessing other Ls.
1:30 PM: I grab a CitiBike. I’m really into CitiBikes. Gross. I’m gross. I know. But I love them. They’re an easy way to get around and they feel marginally more COVID-safe than everything else and it feels like good exercise, ya know?
2:00 PM: I meet up with my friend [actress] Kathryn Gallagher. I love her, love her, love her. She’s the sweetest human being alive and one of my favorite pals and we meet up at Kirsch on the Upper West Side for a coffee to complain and gossip and whatever. Check out this fuckin’ cookie.
5:30 PM: I take the train downtown and get to the theater about an hour and a half before the show. I work onstage for about 20 minutes before the doors open. I like to get onstage to put my feet down—just to “get into the space.” Before I go on, I dance with my crew to get some energy going. No photos of the dancing exist.
9:30 PM: Tomorrow’s my day off, so I do some karaoke with some friends for like the first time in two years. Regrettably, photos of that do exist.
