Miami didn’t have to say goodbye to Hermès for long. Less than three months after the French brand’s only retail location in the seaside city closed last December, the house opened a new boutique in the burgeoning downtown Design District.
The new space at 175 NE 40th Street is 5,000 square feet of the luxe brand’s best wares – from home to men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, swim and jewelry. Of course, faithful followers can shop Hermès’ signature silk scarves, ties and fine leather goods in addition to exclusive hand-crafted offerings at the boutique. All this is just a taste, however, of what’s in store next: a Hermès Miami Design District flagship store, slated for late 2014.
A cocktail reception fêted the new boutique’s opening last Friday. “Hermès is delighted to become a centerpiece of the rapidly expanding Miami Design District,” said Hermès CEO and President Robert Chavez. “We see the development of the Design District as the focal point for a contemporary convergence between art, design and fashion reflecting the diverse, changing landscape of this exciting city.”
