Designer to Watch: Simone Rocha

Here’s everything you need to know about the 26-year old on the verge of fashion industry fame

Who: Simone Rocha, daughter of John Rocha

What: Thanks to her designer dad, Rocha is no stranger to the behind-the-scenes madness of runway shows and the intense business of fashion. Growing up around one of Ireland’s most respected fashion figures gave Rocha an uncommon advantage in launching her own career. Much of her success can be attributed to more than just DNA and good connections. The young designer graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2010, where she gained attention for her fresh, feminine styles. Her chic aesthetic appeals to ladylike but unfussy women. Rocha’s solo show debuted at Fashion East in September 2011 and gave London a first glimpse at her steady attention to fit, material and detail. Since then, her career has begun to skyrocket—Rocha already has a capsule collection for Topshop under her belt, and Colette dedicated an entire window display to her earlier this year. On top of that she’s becoming a must-have label among the fashion elite. It may be all in the family for this rising star, but she’s earned recognition that is quickly starting to span the globe.

What fall will bring: A romantic yet modern mix of soft, tailored coats and structured dresses in colors from nude and black to Pepto pink, featuring details like leopard faux fur, shaggy wool, hand crochets, and structural gathering.

Where you’ve seen it: In major magazines including Vogue, ELLE, InStyle, and Marie Claire
