We’re through the middle of fashion week in New York and in the last few days we’ve seen several strong collections on the runways, plus one crowned streaker at Prabal Gurung[1] to boot. Besides that raucous disruption and the crazy idea from one designer to show in (gasp!) Brooklyn[2], the main talking points this season were, at least for us, found in the standout accessories from designers like Thakoon and Joseph Altuzarra. From furry baseball hats to wiry jewelry and beautiful booties, the fall/winter 2014 top-offs have offered, thus far, interesting spins on pedestrian wares.
For Wang, it was the reinvention of the fanny pack; for Jason Wu, a luxe-looking fur version of a standard tote bag. Whether it’s a piece one might wear to the gym or a necklace fashioned from simple material, the five best pieces from fashion week are the ones reimagined, in daring new ways, for the year ahead. Scroll down to see the standouts.
