Watch & Learn: Miles Teller’s Montblanc

The Fantastic Four actor’s super dress watch

Here’s what we dig about Miles Teller. The 28-year-old actor has made impressive turns in dramatic films like The Spectacular Now and Whiplash, but he has also lent a touch of cool to fluffier fare such as the Footloose reboot. He reminds us of old school actors such as Gregory Peck or Robert Mitchum—performers with real presence.

Peck and Mitchum both possessed a classic, effortless style, a certain flair that we think Teller has too. Pictured here promoting his upcoming action flick, Fantastic Four, at Comic Con 2015 in San Diego, the rising star was spotted in a retro ‘50s-style short sleeve shirt and slacks combo, paired with Montblanc’s timeless Star Classique Automatic dress watch.

What makes the Star Classique most appealing is its traditional styling. The minimalist, silvered dial is the dominant design feature. The ultra-thin, 18K rose gold case is happy to let the face of the watch do all the talking. Large, red gold plated indices, Breguet numerals and Feuille-shaped hands add a dash of eccentricity to the design. We also love the fact that at 38 to 40mm, it’s not an overpowering size, which makes it a versatile enough watch to take from day to night.

While it may appear to be a simple-looking piece at first glance, you can sill recognize Montblanc’s haute horology roots: The band is made of luxe alligator with a rose gold, pin buckle and the company’s snow cap logo engraved on the sub-seconds dial.  And of course the in-house MB 24.08 automatic caliber is finely finished with blued screws and Geneva stripes, which you can view through a sapphire crystal case back.

Although it has a bit of a throwback vibe, in the hands (and on the wrist) of a hip and happening dude like Teller, the Star Classique feels neither too retro nor too trendy. It’s definitely a look that transcends time.
