Louis Vuitton Is The NBA’s First Official Trophy Travel Case Designer

Louis Vuitton[1] has been announced as the official Trophy Travel Case of the National Baseball Association for a multiyear deal, just ahead of the the 2020 NBA Paris Game to be played on January 24. The French fashion house will handcraft an exclusive trunk for the Larry O’Brien Trophy, the award presented annually to the team that wins the NBA championship. To be made in the fashion house’s Paris[2] workshop, the case will be coated in the brand’s signature monogrammed canvas and adorned with brass hardware.

“Louis Vuitton and the NBA are both icons and leaders in their respective fields, and the joining of the two promises exciting and surprising moments, forging historic memories together,” said Louis Vuitton[3] CEO, Michael Burke, on the partnership. “Louis Vuitton has long been associated with the world’s most coveted trophies, and with this iconic partnership the legacy continues–victory does indeed travel in Louis Vuitton!” NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer, Mark Tatum, called the house’s “tradition, heritage and identity” a natural fit for the sports league, remarking that he hopes the collaboration will help showcase the trophy to fans around the world. Louis Vuitton will also be designing a limited-edition capsule collection, with itemized details to follow.
