Olympic downhill skier Lindsey Vonn’s career has been on an uphill trajectory over the last few months. She is preparing to compete again in the World Cup after a year off recovering from a series of injuries, and she is appearing with Gisele Bündchen in a series of ads for UnderArmour workout wear. Last week, at Christian Siriano’s Spring 2015 show at New York Fashion Week, Vonn unveiled another, more glamorous side in a hot pink sheath paired with a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust
As a brand ambassador, Vonn is rarely photographed without a Rolex on her wrist, and her favorite model seems to be a 36mm stainless steel Datejust with a pink dial surrounded by a diamond set bezel on a Jubilee bracelet. Originally introduced in 1945, the Datejust was world’s first pressure-proof, self-winding calendar wrist chronometer. The Cyclops crystal lens—which magnifies the date window—and Oyster case make it one of the world’s most recognizable watches.
The ladies’ versions of the Datejust differ from the men’s watches only in embellishment and size. Each case is made from a single block of metal. All models are powered by a Perpetual automatic movement. And every Datejust features a twinlock winding crown, which keeps the timepiece pressure-proof to a warranted depth of 330 feet (100 meters). This classic design is what makes it easy for Vonn to wear it with sporty outfits as well as catwalk-ready cocktail dresses.
