Who: Nathan Bogle
What: After a six-year hiatus from the fashion industry, the former Louis Vuitton model and original co-founder of Rag & Bone has returned to the scene with the launch of his new menswear line, Jardine[1]. Named after his great-grandfather, the label takes on a minimalistic vibe with mixes of simple button down shirts, crisply tailored suits and classic lamb leather jackets. And although he seemed to try to avoid it—he worked in advertising, went to culinary school, and even took a shot at screenwriting—his comeback to the fashion business is no surprise: Bogle’s sustained an appreciation for style since his very youngest years (his mother used to work for French shoe designer Charles Jourdan). With his less-is-more aesthetic, Bogle’s aim is to counteract a cluttered, tech-obsessed society. In essence, Jardine is a retreat to the foundations of organic style that we’ve been waiting for.
What fall will bring: Lower East Side punk meets modern gent with bold leather cuts, chunky knits and laid-back basic denimstaples. Plans are also in the works to one day expand to womenswear and footwear.
Where you might be seeing it: On friends of the designer like Jude Law who are already fans, and on Rag & Bone lovers looking to go back to the labels simplistic roots.
