Watch & Learn: Hugh Jackman’s Harry Winston

The X-Men star rocks the red carpet with an appropriately bold timepiece

Hugh Jackman can do it all—sing, dance and, on occasion, transform into Wolverine.  Clearly an actor with such range deserves a timepiece that makes a big impression under any and all circumstances, and his Harry Winston Midnight Automatic certainly fits the bill. It’s a simply styled version of rose gold with a champagne, a starburst dial and alligator strap that works for everyday wear as well as red carpet events. Most recently, he sported his for the premiere of X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

Harry Winston is, of course, best known for glittering jewelry offerings, but the company has made big inroads into the world of haute horology over the last 20 years, working with high-end manufactures to provide the self-winding movement. But it’s the design of the Midnight Automatic that really gets the heart beating. The watch is big (42mm) but has a subtle bezel and curved lugs that allow the case to hug the wrist, which in turn lets the boldly unadorned face do all the talking.

The Midnight Automatic reminds us of the “Best of Both Worlds With Hugh Jackman” sketch they used to do on Saturday Night Live. It’s a manly and elegant watch that has “two sides!”
