Last awards season, we noticed that the fellows are daring to rock some vintage looks. Our favorite example? At the British Academy of Film and Television Awards, best actor winner Chiwetel Ejiofor sported a beard, a blue tux and a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Réserve de Marche.
Ejiofor, who was nominated for his performance in 12 Years A Slave, is known for his grounded acting style, and we like to think that his choice of timepiece likewise grounds his sartorial choices.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Réserve de Marche
Part of the 22-year-old Master Control collection, the Réserve de Marche harkens back to an even earlier era of elegance—when watches were simply styled. Which doesn’t mean that this minimalist masterpiece doesn’t pack a lot of power. The manufacture-made movement features power reserve indicator and pointer-type date display, all based in a movement that measures a mere 4.9 mm in thickness.
What sets Jaeger-LeCoultre apart is that the Swiss company not only makes their own movements, they also manufacture their own cases. Which makes this wristwatch discreet but recognizable. If you really want a watch that will get you noticed, like Ejiofor you can opt for the 18-karat rose gold case to show off a little extra flair.
