Your Denim Favorites from the ’90s Are Back

Lottie Moss follows in sister Kate’s footsteps as the face of Calvin Klein’s new resurgence collection

The fashion industry collectively nodded in approval this week as 16-year-old Lottie Moss was named the face of the Calvin Klein Jeans x mytheresa.com The Re-Issue Project line. The special edition women’s capsule includes modernized versions of Calvin Klein’s nine most iconic pieces, originally made famous by Lottie’s sister Kate Moss in the ‘90s. Each style—including the high-waisted skinny and boyfriend tapered jeans that were a personal favorite of the elder Moss—has been updated for the 21st century with the latest fabric techniques and technology.

Michael Avedon shot Lottie for the collection, truly bringing the campaign full circle. Michael is the grandson of Richard Avedon, who famously photographed the 1981 campaign with Brooke Shields.

“This Calvin Klein Jeans capsule is all about a nostalgia for the ‘90s and that whole look feeling very right again,” said Global Creative Director Kevin Carrigan in a release. “It now feels like a perfect time to re-issue the brand’s iconic hits to a new generation.”

Could scrunchies be next? They’d pair perfectly with our new cK sweatshirts.

LILY AND RUBY ALDRIDGE

Victoria’s Secret Angel Lily Aldridge made a splash this winter after appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition alongside Nina Agdal and DuJour cover star Chrissy Teigen, but younger sister Ruby is making waves of her own. Ruby has walked the runway for Prada, Gucci and Dior among others, and she has modeled for Marc by Marc Jacobs and Valentino. Bonus: Their mother was a Playboy playmate in the ‘70s, half-sister Saffron was the face of Ralph Lauren in the ‘90s and brother Miles is a successful fashion photographer. It suffices to say that we’d kill for those genes.

KAREN AND KATE ELSON

Fashion darling Karen may be the better known of the Elson twins—possibly owing just as much to her former marriage to White Stripes frontman Jack White as to her runway and editorial success—but sister Kate is a force in her own right. She’s walked the runway for top brands like Balenciaga, DKNY and Jil Sander. The sisters also both express artistic talents off the runway—Karen has a successful music career, and Kate’s worked behind the camera on a number of film and photo shoots. She even once shot Karen for a 2010 Nylon editorial.

EDIE AND OLYMPIA CAMPBELL

Discovered by Mario Testino at age 15, Edie Campbell started her career with a bang—the young model was booked for a Burberry campaign and the fashion photographer had her stand directly in front of Kate Moss herself. Edie’s gone on to find a successful career as a runway favorite of Hedi Slimane, Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs, and her younger sister Olympia is also a star in the making. Olympia has walked for Burberry and other fashion giants, was the face of Issa for The Outnet and has also been photographed for editorials in international magazines like Vogue Paris and Elle France.

GWEN AND DONNA LOOS

The Dutch twins are best known for starring in Rodarte for Opening Ceremony’s fall/winter 2011 lookbook in an ethereal, Scandinavian-inspired shoot that featured billowy silk dresses, soft pastels, and dreamy ruffles. Though Donna appeared in a number of editorials around that time, Gwen has gone on to find additional commercial success. The ubiquitous blonde currently models for international magazines like Grazia Italy and Marie Claire UK, has appeared in campaigns for Lacoste and Hervé L. Leroux and has walked for Calvin Klein.
