Producer Brian Grazer is a curious fellow. Yes, he’s inquisitive (he recently wrote a book called A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life). But his personal style also attracts the interest of others.
First of all, there’s that hair. It looks like an exclamation point but acts like a question mark. He says he adopted the look in the 1990s to stand out in the Hollywood crowd. Now, after a lengthy career producing Oscar-winning films (A Beautiful Mind, anyone?), Grazer clearly doesn’t need a timepiece that projects ambition. Which is why he has chosen a watch that matches his status— a Bulgari Diagono Pro Scuba.
Pictured here promoting his smash series Empire at the annual Television Critics Association conference summer press tour, Grazer is just as loyal to his signature timepiece as he is to his hairstyle. A quick image search shows him wearing the same watch in almost every picture taken in the last seven years.
The Bulgari Diagono draws attention from its unexpected combinations of materials (Grazer’s marries an 18k gold case with a vulcanized black rubber strap) and its unique design.
Grazer is also known for diving deep into his projects. Likewise, the Diagono Pro is a real working watch. It’s water-resistant to 300 meters, and the clean, black dial with lumed hands and numerals make it wonderfully easy to read on land or under the sea.
Because Grazer has had his Diagono for ages, his particular model is no longer available. The good news for horophiles is that Bulgari introduced a revamped version (shown here) of the Diagono Pro Scuba at Baselworld last March.
The updated 41 mm Diagono now features an in-house BVL 191 Solotempo caliber automatic movement with an instantaneous date and a 42-hour power reserve. This caliber is further finished with côtes de Genève, chamfering and snailed details. For the gold model, the rubber strap is secured with an 18K pink gold ardillon buckle.
Basically, the Bulgari Diagono is a great everyday watch that has that extra bit of elegance that takes it (and its wearer) to the next level.
