Behind the Scenes: Paul Pierce

Watch a behind-the-scenes video from our shoot, taken just weeks after Paul Pierce moved to New York, where the 10-time NBA All-Star shows off his skills on set and takes on a group of unsuspecting gradeschoolers at a basketball court in Brooklyn. Get the full story here[1], and below, check out what else Pierce had to say about a future with the Nets, retirement and more.

DuJour: You’ve had a pretty incredible 15 years. Are you starting to think about retirement?
Paul Pierce: I think about it sometimes… a lot lately. Hopefully, if I can play another year after this, that would be great. But I want to stay involved in the game of basketball—maybe coaching or managing a team. I can lend something to the game based on my experience and what I’ve been through. Hopefully. Or a basketball analyst, I think I’d be good at that.

DJ: Do you think you’ll go back to Boston?
PP: Who knows? There’s a chance I could work for the Nets organization, or any team in the NBA that needs somebody with a good basketball IQ.

DJ: Aside from winning a championship, what’s your ultimate goal for the Nets as a franchise and as a brand?
PP: I think this organization is heading in the right direction. In the next ten to fifteen years it’s going to be looked at like the Boston Celtics, the Los Angeles Lakers or even an organization like the Yankees. Those are the teams that are always going to have the best players, and are always going to have a chance to win a championship every year. That’s what I picture this organization doing.
