Kendall Jenner, the 20-year-old model who famously made a nearly-nude runway debut for Marc Jacobs in 2014, took to her website yesterday to speak out about freeing the nipple. She wrote on kendallj.com, “I really don’t see what the big deal is with going braless. I think it’s cool and I really just don’t care! It’s sexy, it’s comfortable and I’m cool with my breasts. That’s it!” She continued, “It’s also a fun way to show off my different nipple rings.”
The Victoria’s Secret runway model is often captured by paparazzi sans bra. In October, Jenner posted an Instagram photo revealing her breast covered with a small “X,” with the caption: “My favorite photo for all 40 mill of you.” Other models such as Cara Delevingne have shows support for #FreeTheNipple, a movement promoting female empowerment, body positivity and, yes, the right to show naked breasts on Instagram. As of now, the social media giant will continue to censor images of female nipples, in accordance with Apple’s App Store guidelines.
