Seven years after being sentenced to prison[1], Bernie Madoff is back. This time, in a two-night ABC miniseries, premiering on February 3. Starring Richard Dreyfuss as the Ponzi scheme mastermind and Blythe Danner as his wife, Ruth, the miniseries—inspired by The Madoff Chronicles, a book written by ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross—follows Madoff’s rise, fall and all the people and relationships he destroyed along the way. Making bank by swindling clients ranging from A-list celebrities to philanthropic organizations, Madoff pulled off one of the largest financial scams in U.S. history. Here, we break down the details.
