Room Request! W Mexico City

See inside Mexico’s most stylish metropolitan hotel

The luxurious W Mexico City, in the ritzy Polanco neighborhood (blocks from Lincoln Park), was the first W opened by Starwood Hotels outside the U.S. And now the high-rise property has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation to its 237 rooms, overseen by New York-based designer Anurag Nema of Nemaworkshop. The theme of the renovation is “masquerade” and notions of role-play and performance permeate the entire space.

Along with the enhanced guest rooms and public spaces, famed Washington, D.C. chef José Andrés of ThinkFoodGroup is bringing new culinary concept J By José Andrés to the property. On a recent Saturday evening, we were treated to a delicious riff on Spanish and Mexican cuisines by executive chef Terry Cutrino, which included 14 courses of sliced jamón ibérico, oxtail, chicken and ham croquetas, pan de cristal con tomate (tomato brushed toast, a crowd favorite), corn puffs with onion and egg and a caramelized Mallorcan-style pastry dish with Spanish sausage. The appealing restaurant, designed with an orange, red and yellow color palette, is intimate and warm and features a spacious outdoor terrace with funky booths perfect for pre- or post-dinner cocktails.

Below, the W Mexico City’s General Manager Thomas Jecklin tells us about the most sought-after room on the property.

Because
They are very spacious and have a separate living room, so you can create a different mood from the rest of the room. They are very well equipped for longer stays, and you can relax in the bathtub after a long day while enjoying a great city view.
