The Rye Bar may take inspiration from whiskey-loving founding fathers George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and boast a large selection of its namesake spirit, but the upscale outpost is celebrating Independence Day with gin. The bar at the Rosewood Washington, D.C. is offering a patriotic twist on the Gin Rickey in honor of America’s birthday—which is only fitting considering the classic drink is the district’s official cocktail. The variation replaces the Rickey’s typical club soda with a quintessentially American alternative—house-made red apple soda.
“The Fourth of July is a special holiday in Washington, D.C., and we wanted to pay homage to the day with a festive cocktail,” says Managing Director of Rosewood Washington, D.C. Pascal Forotti. “The Rye Bar’s Stars & Stripes Rickey is a refreshing gin-based beverage that’s perfect for sipping on this weekend and all summer long.”
The Rosewood Washington, D.C. sits on the picturesque C&O Canal in the Georgetown neighborhood. While the hotel boasts modern luxuries like a rooftop infinity pool, The Rye Bar is an intimate setting that transports patrons to the past as bartenders mix up cocktails using traditional methods and utensils.
