The New Rolls-Royce Dawn

The new Rolls-Royce Dawn[1] is a convertible made for its driver and passengers to see and be seen. The vehicle represents an extroverted optimism, a shift for a manufacturer whose recent Wraith and Phantom models suggested a more elusive and secluded character.

With a 563 bhp engine, the Dawn is the most powerful full four-seat drophead motor car to date, featuring a 16-speaker bespoke sound system and Rolls-Royce’s remarkable satellite aided transmission technology, which uses GPS to sense and dynamically adjust to the road ahead.

The brand’s 1952 Silver Dawn, a drophead that celebrated the end the World War II era, served as inspiration for the designers at Goodwood. Rolls-Royce sought to redefine the ultra-luxe convertible, a sector the company feels has been plagued by compromise (for example, backseats that are often barely functional). And they have created what they assert to the be the “sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built.”
