Drink DuJour : Meet Marcy’s Maker

The W Union Square shares a unique seasonal tipple for summer’s last long holiday weekend

It only takes a matter of minutes to mix a Meet Marcy’s Maker, but the drink actually comes together weeks before it’s ever ordered.

“The body of this drink is our house-infused cinnamon-apple-raisin vodka, which we infuse for two weeks before it makes it behind the bar,” Thomas Favorule, bar manager at Olives New York in the W Union Square hotel says. “The Amaro Nonino acts as the balancer, with flavors of caramelized sugar and bitter orange, and the Cocchi Torino is an accent with hints of cocoa nibs and rhubarb.”

That’s not all that goes into the drink, though.

“We finish it off with our roasted peanut bitters, which blends well with the sweetness of the house-infused vodka,” Favorule says. “Drinkers beware: This is a strong drink as it’s all alcohol, but trust that it’s still smooth and refreshing and pleasing to the palate”

Meet Marcy’s Maker

2 oz. Apple Raisin-Infused Berkshire Ice Glen Vodka

½ oz. Cocchi Torino

½ oz. Amaro Nomino

3 dashes Toasted Peanut Bitters

Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Stir for 30 seconds and strain into a rocks glass over a single whiskey ice cube (1” or 2” ice cube). Garnish with a Granny Smith apple wheel.
