Decked Out: The W Hotels’ Bespoke Boards

A new set of wheels comes to New York this Wednesday when W Hotels launches its Room and Board program[1]. Anyone who’s ever wished they could roll themselves from point A to point B on a skateboard—or just learn how to—is in luck this summer: The hotel group teamed up with pro skateboarder and filmmaker Ray Mendez to curate a series of five artfully designed boards by some of New York’s coolest celebrities, including Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire, It-girl Cara Delevingne and designer Zana Bayne (her design pictured at right), whose leather harnesses have caught the attention of Lady Gaga and Vogue Italia.

When guests book a board from June 26th through August 30th, they rent one of the skateboards for the duration of their stay, plus get a pro skateboarding lesson and a print of all five designs. Boards go for $500 starting; and the prints, $50. All proceeds will benefit stoked.org[2], a non–profit that serves underprivileged youth in New York through sports.
